Ever notice how there are no photos of the Firefighters Fountain from 31st Street, except from directly in front. Very little of the fountain can be seen while driving down the street. That is because the view is completely obscured by hideous overgrown shrubs. Thousands of cars pass by the fountain every week but the opportunity to see and enjoy it, for the most part, is lost behind this screen of greenery.
It is wonderful that new renovations are coming soon to this well respected and important fountain. I can only hope that someone will realize that the beauty and great location is being lost due to poor landscaping. Contributions might be more forthcoming if more people were actually able to see...

The parking area is small, but it wasn't busy here (only one person leaving, and a second person came for some photos while we were there).
There was quite a bit of trash on the grounds. We spent a good 20 minutes cleaning up before seeing the memorial, so that was a little disappointing.
The fountain and memorial are very well done. It's a touching tribute to those that sacrificed their lives to save the lives of others. (Saw pictures that they light up blue at night, which would have been awesome to see in person).
The placards tell mainly of lives lost to tragedy.
Worth seeing if you're in the area.
