I've been to this store twice already, once at the Grand Opening and about a week ago. There already was a great variety of fish and other merchandise but now there is even more. The prices aren't the best (it isn't necessarily expensive either) but I believe it is worth it because the owner has pristine tanks and ensures he sells you quality fish unlike big chain stores which have lower prices but terrible quality fish. The layout of the store is a bit small but he organized it in a way where it isn't so tight. The place is well lit, decorated and overall feels very comforting in a way. The owner has some cool paludariums as well and I believe he is planning on having some cool odball animals other than fish. One thing that is unique to this store compared to others I have been in this area is that he has some really cool hardscape and even an area where you can plan your scapes. I personally haven't used this feature but I might in the future. His betta 'wall' is pretty cool, I the tanks are small but they're very well filtrated. One thing I will say is that the store is very hot, which isn't exactly a con but just be prepared to take off your jackets (he does that to heat up all the tanks). Lastly, the fish I bought are completely healthy (a pair of gold rams and 5 ember tetras), they're doing very well and I love them. I definitely recommend someone who lives in the area to go and visit. I live in Linden and there aren't many good aquarium stores around here, I have to travel 40+ minutes...
Read morePicKFish Pets located in Kenilworth is my first and only place I go to for my aquatic needs. I first came to Mike with no knowledge at all wanting to learn more and possibly start a tank. From the get go, every staff has been extremely patient, knowledgeable, and transparent in helping me start my aquarium. Any question you have they will have an answer. In store they have every product one might need for their tank from the little things like fish nets to multiple different types of soil/gravel/sand. There is an impressive variety in types of fish both fresh and salt water, crustaceans, and more. The prices here are amazingly reasonable and the products are always super high quality. You can find help for every part of your aquarium from the stand to the plants. I cannot express how special this place is nor how much I recommend it to anyone! If you’re in the area or not, PicKFish is worth the drive!! Thank you to Mike and...
Read moreIt was my first time coming to pick fish. Looking from the outside i thought the place was an office because it seemed like a place where u can sit and chill. I walked inside and it was real chill.. alot of plants. Makes u feel like you are connecting with nature.. the tanks were very clean and the fish looked healthy. My favorite was the planted tanks because if you know you know.. anyone who has planted tanks has an understanding of how plants help clean the water .. mike was great.. i never felt rushed or pressed to buy.. he was knowledgeable and very honest.. he wouldnt sell you something if he knew you were going to fail.. i will deff be coming back… check this place out even if you are not going to buy, the atmosphere was very relaxing and you really feel like you are connecting with nature.. because of the experience, you will definitely want to take a piece of that peace with you.. thankx mike.....
