When reading this review please note that I am extremely anal, and critical of barbers, and have previously had the same one for almost 10 years, because I couldn't find anyone else that came close to cutting my hair the way I expected it to be cut. With that being said, my brother-in-law consistently swore by Manny at American Shave, and said I was missing out on the best cut around. Well due to having to attend a wedding, and not being able to get an appointment with my regular barber, I decided to give Manny a shot. First off I had a good vibe from the door when I was greeted by his receptionist, and offered a coffee, expresso, or any beverage for that matter. Complete class act, and professional is an understatement, they make you feel as if you are getting a $200.00 hair cut by the way they treat you. Second, if you make an appointment for 10:00AM 9 times out of 10 Manny is ready to cut you at 9:50, which is phenomenal because he is so on point with his schedule, rarely ever runs behind. He usually has me in and out in a half hour which is perfect for me, because I'm always running on a tight timeline. What I also love about American Shave, is that they have an online booking portal, so if I'm on the go, I can literally book on my iPhone, through the website. They also send you reminders the day before your haircut, so you don't forget your appointment, which is key especially in my busy life! Third, and most important, we can't forget the haircut itself. OUT OF THIS WORLD!! Manny does an impeccable job, and his extreme attention to detail is noticed after every single cut. I have never got more compliments on my hair since going to Manny. He also stocks great product, and shaving supplies which I purchased, and can honestly say is the best stuff I have ever used. In conclusion, from the atmosphere of the shop, the professionalism of the staff, quality of the haircut, quality product, ease of making appointments, punctuality of appointments, and overall great experience, I will be using Manny as long as he is able to cut hair. Last week I went for the first time based on online reviews. I decided to treat myself and opted for one hour of services including straight edge multiple hot towels with oil and beard etc. The total online was showing around $80 (before tip) and although this seemed pretty high I thought why not give it a try?! I was very disappointed that at triple the cost of a normal head shave and beard line up, I found multiple missed areas at the back of my neck. (Actually my wife spotted them since they were out of my sight line). The ambiance is nice but it is definitely not worth the crazy high prices to get a subpar shave.

This was on top of using their online system to book an appointment and even though I got there ten minutes before my appointment, the barber was late to start my appointment by 15 minutes from the scheduled time. This place tries to operate under the guise of a high end premium service establishment but they missed in so many ways that I would caution anyone to spend your hard earned money here.

Update: replying to Owner Response, I spoke with the shop after my online booking (but before my appointment date) to ensure that I was picking the correct services. I fully described what I was looking for in case any adjustment was necessary to what was initially booked! It's a bit insulting that you'd try to blame the customer for an incorrect booking... how does a barber missing sections during a head shave have anything to do with what someone booked?! In any case, the barber talks to the customer when they get in the chair to ensure everyone is on the same page. So please stop trying to shift the blame from your inadequate staff/services...
