My bf and I recently became interested in Pokémon cards because they’re nostalgic and really fun to open together. We journeyed 30 mins to see this store, but I had no real intention on purchasing cards for myself. Upon entering the store, I was greeted by the guy behind the register (owner). The small business owner was very kind, patient, trustworthy, knowledgeable, and passionate. His store is small and cozy, so The Card Nest is the perfect name for his retail store in Jefferson Plaza (2nd floor). There was a constant stream of people for the 20-30 mins that I was there. The location was a little hard to find because there is no big sign at the Jefferson Plaza, but the owner is responsive and picked up the phone to let me know where to go. The owner’s excellent customer service and passion for cards is what got my bf and I to spend $113 and $89 respectively, for various packs of Pokémon cards. We bought some booster packs for $3.99, some for $4.99, and booster packs that came with a mini binders (the binders hold 60 cards) for $4.99. The big boxes with the extra large display cards were $20-25 each. The build and battle boxes were $20 each. The owner’s prices are very fair. I felt like he could have easily charged more for these cards, but he told us he actively sets the prices to be lower than competitors. He also warned us about not purchasing card packs with inflated prices, since Pokémon cards have been hard to obtain because distributors can’t seem to provide and restock fast enough. Overall, a very pleasant experience. I...
Read moreHands down, this is the SPOT to get my Pokemon cards. I’ll take my girlfriend every Friday, visit Walmart and Target beforehand to see nothing in stock. The second I step foot in this store and look to my left, our spirits are instantly lifted to the heavens: Packs galore, Elite Trainer Boxes, Booster Boxes, an epic singles section with binders full of singles, the works. And this is NOT just in regards to Pokemon, Magic the Gathering’s selection is just as, if not more vast here!
The owner’s super knowledgeable with any product. He’s more of a MTG player, but he can answer any of my Pokemon questions too.
His prices basically always MSRP, with minor (but understandable) exceptions. I know I get the best bang for my buck when I’m here.
There’s a small room in the corner where you can open packs, play some card games, hang out, or if you’re into Commander, games are hosted basically every Friday night I believe. And if you want to play some games, there’s a mini SNES on the other corner to play after you rip open packs.
OH, and this year is the year this place will get upgraded by moving to a bigger location in Kenilworth, so it’ll only get BETTER.
If you love card games like Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, Meta Zoo, or others, check this place out. It’s...
Read moreI love this place, and find it to be the best card/game store in the area. Covid killed a bunch of game stores, but this one only moved locations. Never visited the old location. I come here pretty frequently and every staff member I've come across was very nice, knowledgeable, and able to hold good conversation. I've also sold cards here for very fair prices. Their prices are more than reasonable as well. The selection is awesome in all areas including games, sleeves, deck boxes, card storage, singles, packs, binders, dice, board games and accessories. Keep in mind this is a card store and not a hobby store. Inventory revolves arounds cards only so don't expect a selection of paintable figures and stuff like that. They buy bulk magic cards for one of the highest prices iv'e seen at 7$ per thousand. 3-4$ is what i usually come across. The card games covered here include magic and pokemon which they have both packs and singles as well as a bunch of boxed sets. They also carry packs of flesh and blood, metazoo, yugiyo, final fantasy and probably more i didnt notice. If you like magic, pokemon or flesh and blood this place is great and it's really worth...
