Update (4/6/23): Today the checker helped me bag my groceries, rather than just watching me do do it all myself and hold up the line! Thanks for the policy change!
Original review: I absolutely love shopping at GO, and whenever possible shop here before anywhere else. But they need to get over their policy to not help you bag if you bring your own bags. A checker told me it's because someone once brought in a bag with cat litter in it. Ok, gross, but you can't base a policy on a single or even several fringe incidents. I'm happy to do most of my own bagging to make the process go faster, but the checker will stand there and watch me long after everything has been scanned. Worse, the checker will stand there and watch little old ladies struggle to bag and lift their own groceries. Come on, look in the bag first and make sure it is clean. 99.9% of your customers will bring in clean bags. Every other grocery store except winco helps bag groceries, including with the customers' own bags.
Now that I've said my piece, I will add what a great selection GO has - always a surprise to find something new at a great price (and you have to stock up as you'll never see it again). I compared one grocery run to both Fred Meyer and New Seasons. GO was 25% cheaper than Fred Meyer and 45% cheaper than New Seasons for essentially the same items. You never know exactly what you'll find, but you'll always find...
Read moreFriendly Staff, Hit-or-Miss Prices The people who work at Grocery Outlet are absolutely wonderful — friendly, upbeat, and always ready to help. Their customer service is definitely one of the highlights of shopping here. That said, the prices can be unpredictable. Some days I find great deals, and other times I discover that Trader Joe’s, Bi-Mart, or even Safeway has similar or better prices. So while the “lowest prices in town” slogan sounds great, it doesn’t always match reality. One word of advice: don’t buy the plants. They look tempting, but they rarely thrive — I’ve learned that lesson the hard way. Overall, it’s a decent place to shop if you like treasure hunting and friendly faces, but consistency — in pricing and product quality — could really use some...
Read moreBetter Selection of food now that they have no owners. My only problem is that they never disinfect the work area or the credit card machines that everyone touches they should be wiped down after each use like other stores do. The prices used to be below other stores but now they are the same or even higher not any deal anymore. There is a new owner again and he can’t keep any help. Turn over is really bad. Also he’s turned the place into a new seasons with the prices it no longer a place to get good food at a good price. Too bad! I left this review sometime ago since then the prices are out of control. lactose free whole milk half gallon is now 5.99 across the street at Safeway. It's 365 the guy that owns the store has lost. His mind stopped...
