Kona Kids Dentistry — Local services in Tigard

I don’t even know where to begin…. Kona Kids is absolutely incredible! From the front office, to the hygienists, to Dr. Brandon, EVERYONE is so friendly, patient, and kind! We drive an hour to go to Kona Kids because the quality of care is above and beyond! My 4 year old had a rocky start to his dental journey at a different pediatric dentist office where he was traumatized and very anxious to ever go to a dentist again. After that first experience, we got a second opinion and were then referred to Kona Kids. From the first consult appointment, I knew I could trust Dr. Brandon and his staff to take care of my son. They were just so calm, understanding, and patient with him!! The procedure my son needed included IV sedation and the anesthesiologist was also excellent - answering any and all of our questions! The procedure went smoothly and my son had a very positive experience. Dr. Brandon even took the time to text me that evening to check on my son and sent him a special gift in the mail! We’ve now been several times between the first consult, the big procedure, cleanings and fluoride treatments and the progression my son has made is incredible. He went from completely scared and clinging to me, to completely excited to go to the dentist! Now he jumps up in the chair by himself and opens his mouth and sits perfectly still. And that is ALL thanks to the remarkable staff at Kona Kids! I can’t sing their praises enough! If your little one is nervous or has had a difficult time elsewhere, I’d highly recommend trying out Kona Kids. Thank you Kona Kids for everything you have done...

I recommend Kona Kids to anyone who will listen. The only way that I can describe Dr. Brandon and Katie his assistant is synergy, it's fun to watch. Kona Kids speaks to and treats children like children. They don't make the children wait, the procedures are very fast and they always go the extra mile whenever they can. I couldn't be more pleased.

I had a poor experience with my daughter's previous dentist. They wouldn't give her gas because it made the Dr. dizzy so they gave her two different sets of shots and then almost an hour later refused to do the procedure because my 4 yr. old was having a difficult time sitting still. That's when I started looking for a better dentist.

My first impression of Kona Kids was Katie treating my daughter like a 4 yr. old instead of a professional, it immediately put her at ease. My next impression was when we walked into the room and my daughter was immediately being prepped. Then during the procedure Dr. Brandon would no sooner finish with one tool before the next tool was in his hand (without asking) making the hard part fast and efficient. Watching Dr. Brandon and Katie working together is very impressive.Then Dr. Brandon went out of his way to setup and repair previous dental work that was not holding up for the kids. This on top of the incredibly friendly staff, video games, kids movies and toys actually made my three small children look forward to going to the dentist for the first time. Again, I cannot recommend them...

From the outside looking in, I thought oh this place looks nice! But those feelings drastically changed when I witnessed the way the lead dentist coached the assistants to hold my son down like a mental patient having a psychotic episode, while he cried for dear help because he was scared seeing 5 grown adults pushing him into submission. I also really didn’t like the fact that she tried to give me only two options for treatment, trying to convince me that “it was the only way, otherwise his teeth would turn black and he could DIE” DONE. DONE.DONE. I went to get a second opinion and my son blossomed with just the kind way my NEW dentist spoke to him. No holding him down, my son is 2, and hops right up on the table and opens his mouth for them. Because he’s not intimidated by 6 grown women holding him down like they do at Kona kids. ALSO, I paid a large sum of money for the procedure, before getting the second opinion, and they never responded to issue me a refund. It took almost 6 months to finally get an answer, and it was from the anesthesiologist that works with them, NOT Kona kids. I hate to sound negative but because these are our babies we are talking about, I wanted to warn other parents, and let you know that there are other dentists in the area, that I’M SURE you will have a much better experience with.
