This is a note of caution when buying the very over-priced video games at this store. This is the worst example of price gouging that I have witnessed in recent years. Yes, inflation has caused most commodities and leisure goods to rise in cost, however… charging $45.00USD for a cart-only, run-of-the-mill Super Mario 2 NES basic US release is outrageous! It only gets worse from there. It is shocking that this store was able to survive the pandemic with prices like these. I have frequented the store pre-pandemic several times and was usually pleased with the service and price of games. Well, times have changed.
I went to this store to purchase Atari games, but unbeknownst to me, I was actually looking to purchase gold! So, I ended up only buying a $2.00USD used Atari game (the cheapest that I could find actually - see last paragraph to find out why) and an $8.00USD used NES game. I went to the counter to check out, and the employee who waited on me was very nice and during my walkabout of the store, answered my questions without judgment. He rang up my goods and handed them to me - then I was completely wrong in asking (what I thought was a quick answer question) to the other guy standing behind the counter… oh the mistakes that we make. I asked about Pokémon cards and he said that he only pays half value. Good enough. Then, I asked if he had any Famicom games and mentioned that I had finally gotten a few from Japan. I regret it already. He abruptly pointed out that Famicom games are abundant in the US and that I could get them very cheap here! I have never come across them before. Well, he had none to sell and trust me, if he did, his imports would probably require financing for us to purchase! He made me feel very small.
So, after being put in my place, he dove into a 10 minute soliloquy to anyone that would listen about his massive, complete, expensive NES collection. He made sure that I knew he had a game that was worth 75k USD and how each one was complete in box. As he continued, I was inching out of the store to leave, a customer was waiting to check out and yet, he continued about his collection making sure that I knew ALL of the prices. There is being proud of your collection and then there is being boastful! He made me feel very small… again.
I should have read the reviews before buying games from here. I did not ask them to test the games before I left. The employee did wipe the NES game circuit card, but not the Atari game circuit card. I know why - it would not have made much of a difference. I figured that the Atari game was so cheap (compared to the others) because it was missing the bottom plastic plate that covers the circuit card and is disgustingly filthy and nasty all over the case. When I got home, and super excited to play, Kaboom, that I tried it on my Atari… nothing. I did not check the circuit card out at the store (my fault) but come on! The amount of nasty on the circuitry was appalling. I assumed that they cleaned and tested the games before shelving and selling (my fault again). Well, it took me over thirty minutes and tons of cleaning, but I did get it work, loosely. Why not just return it? Great question. I live a long ways away. It was a special trip to begin with and not another I will take. I did not try the NES game, not bothering.
This review should have no stars, but gets two stars ONLY because the employee who waited on...
Read moreIt's always a pleasure going to Game Over! I've found that since I started making Game Over! my primary game store, it's almost painful going anywhere else. The store is well stocked and organized. The staff is very friendly and passionate about gaming (I get caught in conversation about favorite games or new ones coming out almost every trip). I could (and have) spent hours looking around at the new stock. They have a good selection of Pokémon singles and booster packs, as well as Dungeons and Dragons books and figures.
In this trip, I went for a Nintendo Switch game that was just released. They had many copies (I got there early), and they also had a few Nintendo Switches that they just restocked. Having a daughter that has been wanting to get one, but not willing to pay the $100+ dollar markup that everyone has been charging, it was a breath of fresh air to have a store that is only charging retail price. I ended up buying a Switch and two games for less than other people are charging for just the system. Thanks, Game Over! You made an eight year old very...

I go there for my Pokémon cards, sleeves, Top Loaders and so much more Pokémon stuff. They have it all. And their prices are perfect and fair, they also put limits on Pokémon cards so it gives everyone in the community a fair share. It’s amazing. If you’re looking for something similar, this...
