Batteries Plus — Local services in Kingsport

I usually don’t leave negative reviews, but my experience at Batteries Plus in Kingsport was so frustrating and disappointing that I feel compelled to warn others…especially if you’re considering them for phone repairs.

I took my iPhone in to have the battery replaced and a cracked camera lens repaired. When I picked it up, the rear camera was completely unusable. Photos were foggy with black spots. On top of this, the phone’s screen was badly scratched all over, almost like it had been scraped with a sharp object.

When I pointed this out, the employee told me the manager would “take care of me” the following week. But when I returned, the manager refused to take any responsibility. He claimed they hadn’t damaged the phone and that since I couldn’t prove otherwise, it wasn’t their problem. I explained that I had taken perfectly good photos just two hours before dropping it off, but he still wouldn’t accept that the damage had happened in their care. When they examined the camera, they admitted the sensor itself was damaged (something that obviously didn’t happen on its own) but again, they refused to take responsibility.

To make matters worse, the manager repeatedly implied that I was lying. He eventually agreed to replace the scratched screen but insisted it was an act of generosity, not an admission of fault. I ended up trading the phone in at Verizon, but this was hardly a satisfactory outcome for me.

Frankly, this was an infuriating experience. I entrusted them with a fully functioning phone that needed minor repairs, and I got it back with serious damage that they would not make right. I strongly advise anyone considering phone repairs to go...

Very expensive and poor customer service - why should I ever want to be their customer? I brought a battery in to be soldered at their convenience. They agreed to do it and give me a call when ready. Never heard from them and when I went to pick it up, they could not do it because....well, I had to buy the component batteries from them. So they were not willing to help me out with the nasty excuse that the batteries I had were not bought from them. Problem is the price of their batteries was more than twice the ones I had bought online! Strike one. I then asked for a price for a replacement key fob for my car "$99 refurbished, $220 new. We are our of stock for refurbished at the moment". Do you charge for programming? "Yes $45 - your total with tax will be around $300". Really guys? For $300 I can go to the dealer who I know overcharges but even them can do it for less with real customer service. Thanks but no thanks, I dont need Batteries Plus Bulbs in my life and I'm better off...

Ordered a brand new phone and the screen got cracked before my Otterbox case came in so i took it here. 1st time i picked it up, the screen popped out on the right side in less than an hour. I took it back and left it overnight. Picked it up and within an hour of taking the clamps off the 3 other sides came loose. Took it back a 3rd time and they "ordered a special adhesive from Samsung" -Kept it 2 days and it the entire screen was loose enough to show the backlight all around the outer edge of the screen. The employees have all been very accomodating and pleasant and i have returned the phone a 4th time and left it clamped for almost a full week. Screen was replaced and seems to be seated and sealed properly this time so hopefully the issue is fully resolved.
