Ordered sesame chicken, and ended up getting teriyaki which i was kinda disappointed about at first. But the teriyaki was great, and also the lo mein noodles was some of the best I've had in a while! Ordered my daughter orange chicken, and rice which I'd say was lacking flavor, but compared to panda express I'd say they made up with it by having shrimp sauce unlike panda express which doesn't serve shrimp sauce. Honestly my expectations wasn't high as most Chinese in the tricities isn't good in my opinion, and I went there 15min before closing. I usually prefer Japanese over Chinese but occasionally I crave Chinese. First time eating here will be back hopefully they are consistent with the lo mein as that is the biggest selling point for me as it was better than 99% of other places Japanese,or Chinese in the tricities. Also the pricing is slightly cheaper than mcdonalds when it comes to meal to meal granted we didn't get drinks.
update apparently this place is Japanese? But it is more Chinese like than most Japanese places I've ate at in the tricities which lead me to believe...
Read moreOrdered just a few minutes ago the exact same thing I've always ordered. It went from $15 and some change to $22 and some change and I asked the new white lady they have at the window why it was so much more expensive (nearly 50% which I said) and she straight up said "its not by 50%""they just increased their prices for the first time in 6 years" (they changed them like 3 years ago from a $5.50 sesame chicken to like 6.90 so I already know she's a liar bc im a regular here.) I did the math for my order at home based on the price changes she told me and it was $2 cheaper than she was saying my total was. Im very glad I canceled 70% of that order and just got a plain sesame chicken bc Im very certain she was trying to charge me some kind of tip or maybe she just didnt know what buttons to press and just got it wrong. But yeah I wouldn't recommend this place very much anymore. To anyone. Not worth it for the price now. Especially the hassle she gave me just trying to take the other stuff off and get a plain...
Read moreNot sure what happened to the Sakura in Kingsport. Seems as if they have new owners now. It used to be extremely delicious and easy on the wallet, and it was my favorite place for Asian cuisine in the Tri- Cities area. However, the workers have changed and the atmosphere has become extremely rude and disrespectful.
I’d like to mention the extreme price changes. I usually order a sesame chicken meal with extra chicken with two sushi rolls, and it used to total to around $15. Well, when I went there today to get my usual I paid $25. And also, the Sushi itself has gone downhill. It used to be the best in our area, now it tastes processed, looks thrown together, doesn’t contain sesame seeds, and comes in less quantity (6 rolls instead of 8).
I’m extremely disappointed in the change. It’s kind of ridiculous that you’re now paying more for terrible quality,...
