As a novice when it comes to fine jewelry, I was pretty intimidated by the thought of making an appointment to meet one-on-one with a jeweler. But, as it turns out, that’s exactly what I needed! And now I can’t imagine ever going to one of those large, chain jewelry stores.

Our original wedding rings were simple gold bands and then I inherited a couple of diamond rings with settings that didn’t thrill me. Working with Kim, the “K” in K. Alan Smith, we used the stones and re-designed my ring to incorporate diamonds from both my mom’s and my grandmother’s rings while maintaining the integrity of my original wedding band. The result: a lovely and meaningful piece of jewelry that signifies my love, not just for my husband, but for my parents and grandparents, too.

Kim involved me so much in the design process that I actually felt as though I had designed it myself! I love showing off my ring (even though the diamonds are not spectacular by any means) and explaining the significance of each design aspect and/or gem. I can't say enough about the wonderful service and thoughtfulness that my husband and I have received from Kim Smith at K Alan Smith. Our first business interaction was to have some appraisals made on a few pieces of family heirloom jewelry. Kim was efficient and had the appraisals completed in a very timely manner. Subsequently I had Kim help me redesign my wedding ring when I received a diamond upgrade. Even though the diamond was not purchased from Kim, he gave me excellent service from the start. I was looking for a place to get a custom engagement ring done. I had one meeting with Kim and immediately knew that he was the Jeweler for me. Kim was so patient with my never ending ideas, thoughts, and emails, and in fact he was just as excited as I was. I always want to support local artists and people like Kim remind me why.
