New Dough Zone location much like all the others. Loved the service here though, went above and beyond. Extremely friendly workers and chatty - though it was partly because of our large group. Food here was much more fresh and hot than other spots so definitely had to wait a bit before digging in. Other spots aren't "unfresh" or anything, but you can tell the difference here especially as food is delivered as soon as it's ready.
Party of 9 visited and enjoyed everything. As the staff dropped our food off, they happily chatted with us, asked about what we did occupation wise, wanting to join our friend group, wanting to join our table, etc. Loved that energy and their willingness to chat. As we left they jokily said "see you tomorrow" so I definitely wanted to come back, but it was a little out of the way,
Ordered the broccoli for the first time ever at Dough Zone as a joke but pleasantly surprised. Nothing spectacular but helped cleanse the palate and make us feel healthier. Steamed well and served with a tasty sauce.
I make note of this every time, but the House Specials are where you want to be looking. Sure there's dumplings that you're aware of beforehand including the XLB, but the House Specials are fire. Beef Pancake Roll and Pan Fried Beef Cake are some of the top items at all Dough Zone locations. Filling, tasty, and everything you could wish for. Best bang for your buck while also being more unique items you don't see everywhere.
Besides that, the Q Bao is always a hit. Q Bao and Pan Fried Beef Cake are similar but also different at the same time. Q Bao is softer (white bun) with a crisp bottom whereas the Pan Fried Beef Cake is crispy all around.
Order everything. Or one item from each section. I don't know what to tell you besides be ready, be hungry, and have fun digging in. Also Dough Zone gets a higher placement over DTF in my books all things considered (value,...
Read moreHaving visited Dough Zone's Seattle, Bellevue, and Redmond locations, I had high expectations for this branch. Unfortunately, it fell short in several areas, particularly in terms of food and service.
Location and Ambiance: Situated conveniently with nearby shops and parking validation provided, the location is excellent for a casual dining experience. The ambiance is relaxed, fitting the casual dining category.
Service: The service here leaves much to be desired. Servers often engage in conversations among themselves, making it difficult to catch their attention for orders or refills. This lack of attentiveness significantly detracts from the dining experience.
Food: Compared to other Dough Zone locations, the food here is below average. The Sweet and Sour cucumbers lacked flavor, a stark contrast to other branches. Additionally, the Xiao Long Bao had an off-putting smell, suggesting either less fresh meat or another issue.
Overall Ratings:
Food: Below average compared to other Dough Zone locations. Service: Below average and inattentive. Parking: Convenient with validation provided. Ambiance: Casual dining. Price: Slightly above average compared to local dumpling restaurants. In summary, while the location and ambiance are satisfactory, the food and service at this branch need improvement to match the standards of other Dough...
Read moreFirst, before the food, the meal has even started, there is the thermos of ice water brought to the table which I think is flat out genius. I don’t know why I’ve never seen this at a restaurant before! It is a thoughtful gesture that totally sets me up to like this restaurant! Then the small dishes of shredded ginger, another great small offering I’ve never seen before. There were little surprises here, so uniquely different than most Asian restaurants it’s like wandering into a time space warp. We expected the soup dumplings would come in soup, but actually there was soup inside instead, little explosions of soupy goodness. The Dan Dan noodles were fantastic, the Wontons were crunchy on the outside and succulent on the inside, some of the best we’ve had. Great Green Onion Pancakes, a rare and hard to find treat and my little sandwich thing (I can’t remember the name) was unique and tasty. Had I realized the place is a chain, I might have hesitated. Chain food is rarely what I’m looking for, but I’m glad we went in. Very different than any other Asian restaurant in America I’ve been in. Dishes I came to expect while living abroad, but have never seen back here in the states. And well executed. Please open a restaurant in the Portland Oregon, Vancouver...
