Flintridge Bookstore — Local services in La Cañada Flintridge

Visited this place several times as I recently moved to the area. It's nice to have a bookstore nearby. What I initially loved was the additional trinket and stuff selection - it seemed like a place that had lots of fun gifts. There is also a nice selection of kids stuff including toys - oh, and a board game corner! (To buy, not play.) Also a parking lot in back.

The coffee shop is lacking if you're looking for some high quality joe, but will do if you just want a cuppa and a place to read. These aren't baristas, they're cashiers.

The help is also wanting in it's lack of awareness of customers. I had to say hello to a guy at the cash register before he asked if I was ready to purchase all the things I'd placed on the counter between us. However! On the flip side, I recently visited with my young son looking for a gift for my mother-in-law. While looking at cards my son dismantled a display of something plastic, something he couldn't break and I could replace when I was finished choosing a card. An older man who was working began to swoop in to stop the perceived massacre and I preemptively assured him we'd leave it as we found it. Which we did. Which he stayed and lurked and watched. And proceeded to hover around us the entire rest of the time I was there. That's enough for me to go somewhere else,...

A lovely little bookstore with a few gift and card accoutrements at the front and a large selection of books to peruse.

The clerk (owner?) that I dealt with when I went in was highly personable and assisted me in getting a book they didn't have in stock. It took only a few days for them to get it in! Amazon may have done it faster, but the pricing and small shop experience definitely outweighs that. Plus I was able to find a really cute collection of cards that I bought for my siblings and niece and nephews birthdays coming up.

Plus there's a Dobby behind the counter and a little hide and seek game for kids who visit the store (see the counter for the details, I forgot them). Nothing beats that local...

This is the best bookstore I've been to my whole life!!! It has the best staff! I went there today and there was this lady who helped me a lot and I couldn't stop thinking about how kind and book loving she was!!! I have not only bought a book but have also been informed about many story origins and how stories have evolved and changes after years.
