I wish I had the experience that all these other reviewers had. Rose has a great reputation; however, I did not see that come to fruition. I had received a gift card for $100 for Rose, so I thought I'd visit the store. I picked out a pair of earrings; however, they did not work, so I needed to return them (exchange them). All of that was good. Everyone was great with that part. The next part was not so good. My husband told me I could exchange them for an anniversary band I had seen (it cost more than the $200 I paid for the earrings, but he told me to use it as part of a down payment -- yay to the hubby!). When I returned the earrings, Steve showed me the anniversary bands and the one I had been looking at the week before. I asked if they had any payment plans and was told, "We don't really do those." Then, after hemming and hawing, Steve told me that if I made $300 payments, he could do that. I responded that those payments were a little higher than what I could do, but I could do $200 payments. Steve said no to that, and if that's their policy, I understand. I exchanged my earrings for some that were a little less and ended up with a $22 credit on my account. First, I was told that we couldn't credit that back to my husband's card, even though we had put $119 of our own money towards the purchased earrings, so after inquiring about that, I was told that I could put the money back on the card (which I did not have with me, so that meant another trip back to Rose -- totally my fault and like I said earlier, they were good through all of this). So far, all is okay, though I was a little bothered by the fact that I felt like they didn't really want to sell that anniversary band; for example, why not ask if I could put more money down to make the payments less per month? When I went back the third time to have the $22 put back on my husband's card, I asked Heather why they didn't do layaway plans. She responded by saying they did. I asked her why, when I asked about it the day before, I was told they didn't do that. Her response was, "Oh, Steve? Yeah, I don't know why he said that." Then she replied they usually ask for 25% down, then 1/3 of what was left because they don't want the layaway to last a year (makes complete sense), so now I know the policy, and this was precisely what Steve told me he "could do for me" after saying they "didn't really do payment plans." So, why am I upset? At first, I was told they didn't do layaway, and then Steve made me feel as though he was doing me a favor by offering me their typical layaway plan. Also, why not ask if I can put more down to make the monthly payments lower, or why not show me more ring options? I'm not upset with the policy. I'm upset that I left feeling like my money wasn't good enough to spend there and like I didn't matter. No one offered any other options. I felt they didn't want me to have the anniversary band and that they didn't want my business. That bothers me...a lot. Even though I don't remember ever meeting him, maybe I offended Steve at some other point in my life. Maybe I wasn't dressed to impress. I thought I was amiable, but maybe I didn't come across that way to Steve or Heather. For whatever reason, I was not worth their time that day or the next one, but no worries, you two, you won't ever have to see me again. To everyone still reading this review, I sincerely hope that you have the customer service the majority of patrons seem to have and that you never have to experience the way I felt the two times I was there, but if you have the unfortunate luck I had, know you...
Read moreI worked primarily with Jon, but also had help from Heather as well. They were both extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and very nice to work with! I never felt "pushed" into buying anything. I purchased an engagement ring from Rose and this review cannot even come close to describing how BEAUTIFUL and PERFECT it is!!!!! Not only did my girlfriend (now fiancé) say yes and love it, all of our friends and family love it as well (I do too obviously!). I was probably the most picky/particular customer Jon and Heather have worked with in a while and yet they come through on the very first try! Jon was able to find the EXACT natural diamond I was looking for (the 4 C's spec I wanted, no fluoresce, table size measurements, no bow-tie, literally everything) and he was able to make the setting, hidden halo, and band EXACTLY what I was looking for. I gave him a picture of what I wanted, and he was able to make a beautiful engagement ring from just looking at a picture!!!! Again, aside from all of the perfect work done, Rose Jewelers is a very welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable place. They are also great at communicating and staying in touch throughout the entire process. My fiancé and I will be back to get wedding bands in the near future! Thank you,...
Read moreRose Jewelers has been a staple in La Crosse for many years. Their customer service while purchasing our engagement ring showed why they are. When I was there I never felt pressured to go outside my budget. Jon asked what I was wanting to spend and stayed under it the entire time. I never felt “sold”. This is a huge piece of mind when purchasing jewelry. I don’t know anything about diamonds but Jon took the time to explain to me about clarity, cut and size. I left there knowing I got a great deal and the perfect ring.
The cherry on top is that I picked the wrong ring size. Laura couldn’t even get it on her finger! We had a party planned in 4 days for our engagement. Jon had the ring sized and sent back to us (we live in Madison) in time for our party! That right there is why Rose Jewelers is the only...
