Dollar General — Local services in Lago Vista

This store has gone through some rough times lately. They went from being understaffed and understocked when transportation had it's hiccups during the height of the pandemic. They figured the trucks out, but they were still understaffed. Then the big bad fire marshal comes in and makes his own interpretations of the fire safety code. It seems he even brought his custom tape measure. There's a new store being built next door, so maybe he's on the take, who knows? But, through his creative measurements and interpretation, the store had to remove the top shelves, where 90% of their overstock product is supposed to go. As a result, the loop of effective inventory management is crippled. The back stockroom, which is tiny, is now full of the overstock, so whenever there's a delivery, it has nowhere to go except straight into the aisles for all of us to run into. It could be fixed and remain compliant with fire regulations. The staff is willing to do what it takes, but sadly, it seems like this lovely town is ready to give up on...

The store promotes "Federal Express Drop-off here!" Sounds great now that "Not Just Mail" in Lago Vista has closed so I thought I'd try it. My experience.... When it "absolutely, positively must sit in the store overnight" bring it here... I took a package on a Friday and checked with my client on Tuesday (yes 4 days later) and it hadn't moved. I went there on Wednesday (yes 5 days later) to find myself going through 61 packages (I counted) stacked in a pile next to the cash register of all places. I took my package and promptly dropped it off elsewhere. In addition, I told the cashier that if he called Fed Ex they would gladly come pick up the packages, but he replied "that Fed Ex guy doesn't come every day". It didn't have the heart to tell him that I could actually have Fed Ex come to my house for a pick-up. Not sure at this point which one of us is the least intelligent. At any rate, that was my...

It's only one of 2 retail stores in town besides a grocery store, and unfortunately its not kept up. The shelve are always somewhat empty and the aisles are always cluttered with rolling carts and boxes of supplies that never seem to be put up on the shelves. It's getting harder and harder to find anything, been going here for 3 years but lately it has been a hit or miss if you can find what you're looking for. It was at one time a very nice, clean and well run store, but I think with all the supply chain and employee shortages they kind of let it...
