Yesterday, I had a very degrading experience here at this particular Home Depot. I wasn't going to initially post about my experience, but I don't want anyone else to have an experience like I did .
I shop at this store often and normally have a pretty good experience. I went in to purchase a drill around 4:30pm . I'm not a guy who knows much about drills, so it took me a while to look over the sizes and models of the Ryobi drills.
I eventually picked one out. I saw that the cage was unlocked for so I assumed it was okay to get it and check out. Especially since it's pretty much right in front of the self check out station.
Almost immediately, I was approached in an aggressive manner by a woman named Mary, who basically snatched the item out of my hand saying she needed to walk it up and that her manager was watching her. So apparently, she wouldn't have done anything if he wasn't watching 🤔... strange statement.
I have absolutely no problem or issues with policy. I understand today's landscape of smash and grab around the country. However, I felt violated and profiled as she was overly aggressive. She basically snatched the item out of my hands. All she had to do was politely ask me or say something like ... Excuse me, I have to walk that up as per company policy. Company policy, I'm sure doesn't say to aggressively remove product from a customers arms who's not running out the store with it and has his wallet in his hand.
I was polite enough not to cause a scene. She had zero customer service knowledge or even people skills. With the situation in America being as it is, we need to be more conscious of being respectful, not suspicious.
As a 59 year old blackman who's been living in OC for over 35 years. I can say from experience, I've been profiled many times. But, I'm not easily offended by the ignorance of some people.
Companies need to bring their employees up to speed. Teach them that policies and respect go together.
I just went to the Laguna Niguel store, and they were great.
I just felt it's time to speak up. Too often I just let things go. The next person who looks like me going there should know. Let's see if they really care and...
Read moreI worked with the customer service center and sure enough, it tuned out that the problem was due to a delivery company that HD is contract out to. Contacted this company did not help, but HD's able to entervene and take care of our issue for now. I'll raise this to five stars again, and will update my rating.
I place an order for an appliance on 6/29/25 to be delivered on 7/5/25. The delivery contractor for Home Depot missed the delivery dates and rescheduled 3 times on 7/5, 7/8, 7/9 and I contacted their (HD) call center five times, they (HD call center) say they cannot do anything. This is beyond frustration. I still not able to get this resolve yet two weeks later. If Home Depot is reading this, I have all the transcript of the chats/calls if you want. Please note, I love this particular location and it's employees, but as a company, they also responsible to hire the delivery contractors, and those contractors must be held responsible. Home Depot as a company is an excellent entity, but their reputation will be ruin by the contractors...
