I went to get groceries as usual and checked out with Louis O. Yes, that is in fact his real name. Louis was very jovial, conversational, and helpful with the lady right before me – let's call her Betty – even as Louis corrected Betty for not placing her goods on the conveyor belt. How incredibly kind; such a trooper! As she left, I stepped up to the register and Louis' entire demeanor changed. Gone was the jolly smile and helpful character I had known and loved for all of 5 minutes. All that was left was a pursed smile that didn't quite reach his eyes and curt greetings and responses. You had to be there to see how tragic he looked in comparison. Really Louis, blink twice if you feel you're in danger. He not only scanned my membership card (I know that's standard, no complaints about that) but held on to it –something he didn't do with Betty.
For context before I continue my tirade, my partner and I (both of whom are members) use specific cards for certain purchases for cash back advantages, and it's not uncommon for us to use each other's cards without the other present. In fact we've both done that before, right in this very Costco. Because let's be honest, in this economy it's grossly unsexy not to be smart with finances.
Back to my rant: before I could tap to pay, good ol' Louis asked to see the credit card I was paying with to see if it matched my membership card. Well it doesn't, because it belongs to my partner who is also a member. "Unfortunately", Louis says, deadpan, "you cannot use that card." Fine then, I'll pay with a different card that doesn't give me cash back and I lose out on like $15. Sure. Big whoop. It's not worth $15 to hold up the ever lengthening checkout line during peak hours.
What really grinds my gears is the blatant racism. C'mon, Louis. It's 2024. If you're gonna preemptively single me out at least make that fake smile a twinge more convincing. Where's your customer service act that you performed so well with Betty? Nowhere to be found within 4 feet of me, apparently. I know the "inland empire" is a mixed bag of red and blue, but at least make an effort to cover up your ugly, Louis. After all, racism is still very much frowned upon.
And before you, dear reader, can say, "well you should've gone to management."
I did.
As did my partner (who is white, you'd think they'd listen to him). He has called, was put on hold for an eternity and a half, only to be told to send an email. Which he did, and it was just as detailed and only a little less colorful than this review. And for all an executive membership will get you at Costco, a humane response or any response at all really, is not something you can avail at this location.
Well, I refuse to be silenced.
For Costco's inaction, I am punishing this specific location with this measly review. Behold! My figurative pen!
I am livid that despite being an educated, contributing member of society I am still judged and discriminated against based on how I look. It's not a good look on anyone, Louis, least of all you. You and I are the 99%. We're supposed to be on the same side. Don't you realize you will never be rich? But I'll take the high road and will share with you the grace you are clearly lacking – enough to forgive you – because it's not your fault to have been so thoroughly brainwashed by the gilded words of the 1%.
The only thing I regret is not being able to find your surname, Louis O. What's the O for? Offensive? Oppressive? Obtuse? Ordurous??
I hope I have made this review entertaining enough for the average google review peruser to read all the way through. Thank you for your time, reader.
TLDR, Louis O., a cashier at this location be mad racist. Management gave me and my partner the cold shoulder. Yes, I'm mad about it. I'm especially angry that all I can do to metaphorically take up arms in response is to write a review so beautifully articulated that it actually...

So, I am rewriting this because my previous review of this Costco was somehow removed. I am writing the new review to shine a light on two very negative experiences that me and my father had here.
First experience:
A couple months ago, my dad purchased some AirPods for me and he gave me the receipt as we headed toward the exit. I showed the receipt to the employee, and she asked me in a rude condescending manner “Did you buy this, or did your dad buy this?” I told her “my dad bought it for me and he gifted it to me.” The employee asked my dad if this was correct in front of other people at the exit and he confirmed the purchase was a gift for me. Afterward, I utilized sarcasm because I thought this whole situation was ridiculous. So I said “no, you are right, I went to the back and brought it out front.” She followed by saying “Than it is a good thing that your dad bought it for you.” Initially, I didn’t care about posting a low review about this Costco, but the following event with my dad made me change my perspective.
Second Experience:
My dad went to Costco two days ago and was having a conversation with one of the employees about the high prices. What followed disgusted me and my dad, and this is a sign that some of the people working at this location truly have no professionalism when it comes to customer service. Another employee abruptly intervened in the discussion, cut my dad off, and said that “we don’t set the prices. Stop complaining.” This is despicable behavior, and you need to set the bar higher when it comes to the employees you hire. I have also witnessed employees at the self checkout area mistreat elderly people. The next time me or my family have to deal with this behavior we won’t tell the manager, we will contact corporate because advising management is obviously not doing anything. I advise others to do the same because if employees like these are allowed to work here, this is clearly a problem that involves...
Read moreL.E. Costco is convenient for me. In less than 10 min., I'm there... well stocked and seasonal items on time even well staffed. However, this last reason is the one that might make bring my business and money elsewhere. Costco is a huge retailer but also huge service provider. However, this store has a "so called manager" named Meghon. Yes, M E G H O N. something I despise as consumer is the inability that some managers or supervisors have. That is their unwillingnesss to do a satisfactory job for us the customer whom are the ones that make the store successful. We buy there, we contribute to make their payroll possible. Anyway, I returned an item right after i purchased...I got to the door after checking out, i noticed an item was priced higher than i expected. Me, the customer read wrong sign... that's my reason for return. I get to counter and clerk took item and still persuaded to return since she felt item was a good product. I paid w debit card and she handed me cash and i declined and asked for the same method of payment which the normally procedure. They've done it in the past and many stores do it to. When the clerk yelled out the manager assistance, meghon made the most unpleasant face and her body language was obvious she was bothered by having to go take care of voided transaction. meghon approached us at the counter and her voice was displeased and facial expression was ... should i describe it? Y'all get it. The clerk did her job and i walked away... I hardly ever complain about staff lack of customer service but when a manager behaves that way, i voice my opinion. meghon, i hope you read this post. It's clearly obvious you hate helping others. As a manager or supervisor, you should lead and be an employee model; workers watch you, CUSTOMERS WATCH, THEY CAN PERCEIVE BEHAVIORS. you are glad you have a job but that is not your type of job if you don't have the ability to demonstrate willingness, that you can tolerate heavy work days. Very...
