I went in to get my internet router that I order a week our so prior. I just moved and COX is literally the only service provider for my area.
I already knew the issues with COX but what am I to do? Before I had Frontier and I was paying less then $100 for a 2gig unlimited. Cox offer me 1 gig for $110 and if I should go pass a certain point my speeds would slow down! Unless I paid the extra $50 for unlimited! So now my bill is $160 a month thats almost $200 for internet that's ridiculous! Plus the internet is constantly going down in fact it's down right now! Its been down since around 1 AM then they just keep updating my phone saying it will be fixed by 4am, now it's 8am, wait now is 12pm!!!! What a joke.
This has got to be the most ridiculous service provider. They make Verizon look like a walk in the park. They make me dream of AT&T. I miss my old internet service. Also when I came into the store they charged me $50 deposit and they couldn't get that right. So I swipe my card and the money is debited out of my checking. But not in there system. Like wait what??? "Sorry sir system error it didn't go through" Well it went through on my end! Crazy right. So they ask me to swipe again? Thatvthe money would be refunded. I tell the guy if it didn't work the first time it's probably not going to work the second. Reluctantly I swipe my card again another $50 is debited from my checking. Guess what? It didn't go through. So now I'm down $100 the guy finally just gives me the router and says sorry sir we will just have to attach it to your first bill. Whaaaat! Why wouldn't you just suggest that after the first time!? Or even when I originally called? If I could have just paid that with my bill then why not offer that to me out the gate.
So I go to hook up my service at home nothing works. Call Customer service they gotta send someone out the day of I miss the techs phone call. I call him right back straight to voice-mail. I waited at home all day for this guy with a 4 hour window. Had to cancel my while day only for him to call once then not show up. Bruh I've had the router for over a week, I'm very tired I have 4 kids under 12 and no internet! So I leave him a message and I vent. The next day I get a call and the tech comes out they have a hard time finding the issue but eventually after some troubleshooting I have internet!!!
But wait they charge me $100 for having the tech come out! My first bill was almost $400 dollars! So I call customer service and I explain to them everything. The lady apologized for my troubles and she did end up taking off the fees that I was charge almost a 2 hour phone call but hey I got it done.
The service is great with an ethernet cable but it's spotty toward the master bedrooms and garage. I think for that much money I should have to buy a router extender but I'm am going to have to.
I feel ripped off everytime I pay my bill. Like a one big sucker! Getting screwed over by COX. They really picked a great name.
Maby I should get Starlink I don't know!
If you can get something else stay away from COX!
They are taking advantage of the people here in South County and honestly they need...
Read moreI have had the most terrible experience with Cox business. I had a 3 year contract with them that ended last year. I called them and they asked if I sign another 3 year contract they will keep my rate the same. I did! A huge mistake! In the fine prints (written by lawyers and for lawyers), it said that if I break the contract, I will be responsible for all the monthly payment (in full) until the end of the contract! This is akin to slavery! I cannot switch. I am now paying more than double the price for half the rate that I can get from an alternative provider which has no contract and guarantees that the price will never change! This is highway rubbery and bad business practice! Buyers beware of Cox and its deceitful tactics, business practices, and contracts! Here is the relevant part of the contract in very small print and the 3rd page of the contract: "3. Termination Customer may terminate any Service before the end of the Term selected by Customer above in the Service Terms upon at least thirty (30) days written notice to Cox; provided, however, if Customer terminates any such Service before the end of the Term (except for breach by Cox), unless otherwise expressly stated in the General Terms, Customer will be obligated to pay Cox a termination fee equal to the nonrecurring charges (if unpaid) and One Hundred Percent (100%) of the monthly recurring charges for the terminated Service(s) multiplied by the number of months, including partial months, remaining in the Term. Cox may terminate this Agreement without liability at any time prior to installation of Services if Cox determines that Customer’s location is not reasonably serviceable or there is signal interference with any Cox Service(s) according to Cox’s standard practices. If Customer terminates or decreases any Service that is part of a bundle offering, the remaining Service(s) shall be subject to price increases for the remaining Term. If Customer terminates this Agreement prior to installation of Service by Cox, Customer shall be liable for Cox’s costs incurred. This provision survives termination of...
Read moreI switched to Cox a little over 2 years ago because it seemed like the best option for our new home in Lake Forest. I was charged $98 for tv and internet each month the first year. After that they started raising my rates. It went up to $114 per month with no change in my service. And then increased again to $118 per month. I just paid the extra and figured that it was because rates were going up. Last month they increased my rate to $150 per month without even telling me they were doing so.$80 for TV, $80 for internet, with a $10 "bundle discount" not to mention my internet is slower now than ever before. So now I'm expected to pay $150 a month for something that I paid $118 a month for (last month). I called and was given the run around, had to explain what I was asking to 3 different people who all "at first couldn't figure out why my bill had gone up".Then tried to sell me more channels to increase my bill. The last person in the "loyalties department" offered to add HBO and other channel and take $0.54 off my bill of $150 or to take the TV off and that would leave me with just internet for $100 (I do not have their best internet package which is listed on the website as $100 per month so not sure why I would be charged that much for what I have). That tells me that if you're changing people with those channels the same rate as me I shouldn't be charged that rate without those channels. We get flyers in the mail all the time for $99 per month for tv, internet, and phone for cox. I asked the agent why that rate is being advertised and she told me "remember Hailey, you once had that rate too". So basically they trick you into signing up with them with that rate and then raise the prices with no warning or explanation to whatever they want and their agents try to tell you why that's justified. Terrible way to run a business, terrible customer service, I'd rather pay double with a...
