I have never experienced such poor customer service as I did at the District. On February 24, 2024, my boyfriend and I came to the shop and ordered custom pillows. The man who checked us out told us that the lead time was 4-6 weeks, but that was for full sofa upholstery, and that we could expect the pillows in 2-3 weeks. He also promised an email receipt, which never came. I didn't worry too much about the receipt, since I trusted the order had been placed. On March 15, I called to inquire about the order, since it was past the promised time. I was told I would get an email when it shipped and was then immediately hung up on. After I still heard nothing, I called on April 12 to ask after the order. Keith answered the phone, was rude, and tried to hang up on me. He then said he thought it was on the truck to be delivered that day, and would call me back about the order, but never did. It took my MALE partner calling and insisting on a response for anyone to take this seriously. I was finally sent a receipt, almost two months later, along with a passive aggressive lie about it having been delivered to my spam (it wasn't, they're just lazy employees who didn't send it initially). I was also told that the vendor put in the order wrong, and my lead time was now more than double the initial estimate. No one tried to make this right, no one offered a discount, and no one apologized for ignoring me previously. This shop disrespects women. This shop fraudulently charges customers. This shop does not take accountability for mistakes, blames customers, and does not care about correcting wrongs. $360 spent here isn't enough to get you treated like a human. Maybe if you spend at least 1k they'll act like...
Read moreWe went to District Chicago looking for a new dining room set. We could not have been more impressed! Our salesperson, Randa, went absolutely above and beyond to help us. She took the time to help us compare different table-and-chair combinations, until we found one that was just right. She then very patiently worked with us to redeem some finicky gift certificates, trying multiple approaches until we got one which worked (she divided up the cost of the set into four invoices, which she texted to me). Also, she helped us arrange delivery of our new dining set through a third-party service. District's owner inspected the furniture ASAP, so that it could be sent on its way to us the next day (which was very much appreciated, as I was going out of town for the holidays) The following day, Randa called us to let us know that the table was already assembled (a very pleasant surprise!) and that the movers were on their way and were slated to arrive earlier than expected. This was superlative service from District overall and Randa in particular. We recommend District Chicago...
Read moreI bought my Gus sofa from District about two years ago and will always prioritize buying furniture from District above purchasing at corporate stores. The pieces featured in the store showcase the eye for design and passion for aesthetic that I’ve come to associate with District. I love design, and a good portion of the photos I have on my phone are screenshots of pieces I have my eye on at District. Moreover, when you walk into the store, you are greeted by longterm employees and often the store’s owner. When you walk in, you get the sense that this business is a stronghold of the community. Wishing you all the best as you move to your new home in...
