I wanted to take a moment to recount my experience at the La Loteira night on January 21st, 2025. To say I was excited about attending this event would be an understatement. My anticipation for the evening was through the roof, as I envisioned an unforgettable night of laughter, enjoyment, and entertainment. However, much to my surprise and unparalleled disappointment, the event turned out to be an absolute sham.
There were lots of performers, many of whom had friends attending the event. At first, it seemed like just another night of socializing, but as the evening wore on, I began to notice something unsettling. It dawned on me that the majority of the winners were personal acquaintances and cohorts of the performers. It felt like being a spectator in a rigged game, a deceitful amusement orchestrated for the benefit of select individuals at the expense of the unsuspecting crowd.
When we dug deeper into the matter and began asking questions about the dubious pattern of winners, the performers had the audacity to saunter over to our table. They brazenly looked at our cards, called out the boxes we had marked, and tried to shroud their dishonesty under the guise of participation. The audacity was astonishing.
At that moment, the delightful evening took a bitter turn. We decided to wrap up the night earlier than anticipated, quickly settled our tab, and promptly vacated the establishment. Our departure was the only salvageable part of the night, facilitated by our shared disillusionment and desire to disconnect ourselves from the proceedings as soon as possible.
Given my experience, I feel obligated to communicate my profound dissatisfaction and warn others who may be considering attending any future events at the same establishment. Without mincing words, it was a complete and utter scam. The intentional manipulation and lack of integrity displayed by those in charge were not just disappointing but also deeply damaging to the reputation of the venue.
I, for one, dare not give this establishment another opportunity to dupe me. I want to make it unequivocally clear that I will never attend any events hosted at this establishment in the future. This experience was a harsh lesson on the importance of transparency and integrity in event organization. This wasn't just a one-off evening. It was an eye-opener, a harsh reality check, a disappointing encounter with unchecked audacity and deception. A total scam in all its brazen glory.
So, consider this a warning, a firsthand account of an unfortunate experience. Don't let the scam artists win. Save your time, energy, and money, and steer clear of...
Read moreVery excited for Replay to expand into my backyard. As my favorite hang out in Lakeview, namely for the bourbon and IPA drink options and the relaxed, open air atmosphere it offers, I have been eagerly awaiting for Replay-Andersonville all summer. Upon opening, I may have been there a handful of times in the opening week and have returned many times since.
My takeaway and why I write this review.
The owners did a great job with creating a fun space and kept a bar/dining space separate from the gaming area. Best of both worlds.
Windows on both street fronts makes for an open atmosphere
The multitude of televisions and sports they play. This is my favorite hang out for catching a beer and "the game" which is important to me as I don't have a live sports cable package at home.
The crowd...it has brought in a bunch of fun silly-hearted folks from the neighborhood and beyond that are out for a relaxed meal or drink and are okay with chatting it up with a neighbor. Have meet a couple of great new neighbors, gay/straight/male/female.
Food...Nachos and burgers are great. Have ordered it a couple times. I'm a creature of habit but am trying to taste other things. The turkey burger was a so/so the first time I dined at Replay but the kitchen was also just a couple days old and others have enjoyed theirs since. I'll give it a pass.
Service...again a little slow the first week as they work out the kinks but always service with a smile. Most kinks and change suggestions appear to have been noted by management and have been resolved. I even had a server remember and point out some improvements on a suggestion I made two visits earlier.
Prices may be slightly high but they seem about on par with other quality restaurants in the area. (ie-Calo / Lady Gregory's / Hop Leaf) You pay for the atmosphere too.
As a new neighbor, Replay-Andersonville also is taking part in the community. From what I saw, they started their involvement with the neighborhood, including local business organizations and community event and sports team sponsorship, even as they were still building out the space prior to opening which also means something to me as a local resident. They are investing in the betterment of our neighborhood.
All new openings of a restaurant have their kinks and anyone who has only been to flawless openings should really start bringing me with. I go into new locations knowing what I'm getting into. Quality of an establishment is in the staff and how they respond to...
Read moreWe went on a training day, the place was very clean, 95% warm welcoming atmosphere. The boardgame selection definetly could use the help of an actual gamer , that knows the differencebetween beer and prezel games and kids games. The video cabinet games were ok selection for the size of the space, but also could retire some of the classics for some more range, the star wars game controller needs maintance. Pinball only two and one darts (shouldnt be next to each other) and cost. Which i thought weird as the orginal is know for pinball and free maybe this changed.
The food was pretty good. Our waiters change .though both friendly my first witha trainy really made us feel welcome supper postive. Our replacement was definetly professional but a little cold for the style of pub. When i point out my burger was over cooked and i didnt need a replacement .he implusively responded about half my burger was close. I just needed him to tell the cook. Half also is not to order. The tatts were on point and chicken fingers perfection.
The rest of the staff were on top of there jobs bar bank , bar tender, servers watch out for the whole room. Hang out, friendly date, midday chill outdefinelty recommend, much quiter then OG. But if you want the game go old school just bring ear plugs. Maybe have the giant connect 4 , for outside dinners.
I givr it a 90% for a saturday on a holiday weekend Remember tell them the badmonkeyking sent you! Peace, be Mr. Rogers, and have some...
