Love Aldi...it's one of the best things about living on the East Coast. Prices aren't just crazy low, their products are crazy high quality. Produce is fresh (if limited a bit overall, but there's an impressive amount of organic choices). I used to be a Red Bull addict now I drink their "Red Thunder" which tastes and works better while saving me hundreds per year. Meat looks good and fresh even though I don't eat it, canned and frozen goods are well stocked with good selections, Oh and the employees are obviously well compensated and get good benefits because they all obviously and genuinely care. Sometimes check out lanes get crowded and it's amazing how fast and efficient they're able to zip everyone through. Also, get ready to be blown away when this location gets it's remodel - I've seen the new stores in FL and they are almost like shopping in a high end Whole Foods type atmosphere.
Where I feel they need a lot of improvement on is their baking goods, vegetarian and ethnic foods sections. I often can't find all the necessary ingredients for a good lasagna, fresh souffle, mexican or asian recipe, add inns for baking such as the correct cocoa/cainnamon chips/nuts/fruit etc...I do understand they like to keep their stores compact and basic but the inability to have a simple Mexican or Italian night dings them a star. The noodle selection is non existant and ALL the marinara they sell is straight garbage, so they lose a star for that stuff. Overall...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm new to Aldi shopping...I've only gone three times now, twice to the W. 117th location and once to the Steelyard Commons location. I can't say much about the Steelyard one bc I haven't been in since they started remodeling, but the one on W. 117th is great. The layout is open enough so I don't feel cramped or corralled through the store. They have a good options for things, even some organic options available. It's definitely the place to go for your basics like bread, hotdog and hamburger buns, milk, eggs, and canned goods. I've really saved quite a bit of money on the basics being able to go here instead of Giant Eagle (with giant prices) down the street. They have their own parking lot, and no matter where you park the entrance is still close. Plenty of boxes throughout the store for those little trips. Save yourself some cents, though, by bringing your own bags for the bigger trips. Even if you can't, their sturdy plastic bags are only 10 cents. Overall, the selection is good and the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a cute little grocery store. The size is an advantage (if you're tired and want to shop really quickly) but also a disadvantage ( because the lack of variety) The brands are very surprising. I have never seen them before and yet the quality is very high. Real treasures on the shelves. Lots of health food. They have a great gluten free brand. Fruits and vegetables are awesome! And very cheap. The whole store is known for its great low prices. The best thing about Aldi is definitely the unbelievable customer service! The best in the US. If you return a product, not only you get your money back, no questions asked, also you get an additional free product. Whatever you want! (with a similar price) to make you up for "suffering" with the product you returned. Isn't...
