Denver West Plaza — Local services in Lakewood

This is a late stage mall build for sure. It was filtering a time when malls were still popular but were definitely starting to wane in popularity. It tries to incorporate the main street idea, the indoor mall idea, as well as the drive-up, single company building styles but all in one area. It's great if you've got the day to kill but it makes it slightly inconvenient to maneuver in between a lot of excess parking and then lack thereof alternatively. Counterintuitively the old indoor mall loop style is doing quite well here whereas the external single occupancy stores see m to be struggling likely due to higher cost of operation and this excessive amount of unused parking where obviously it's unneeded acting as an impediment to walk up shoppers...

I enjoy this reopened and still new-ish shopping complex. The sculpture "American Pieta" is on the Eastern corner along Colfax if I'm not mistaken. Very charming. The mall I mean. The sculpture is very cool, but Pieta? I question the name. The concept, sentiment, vision, are sound, but the name? To re-label this work after one of the world's greatest Christian sculptures, 'The Pieta'; of a dead Christ in His mother's arms, also one of the greatest works in marble, isn't appropriate in my opinion. Worst Best Buy Store we have EVER been in. Customer service from tv department sucked. 4 attendants, no other customers but us. Wanted to buy a stereo system. A gal came and looked at the system we were interested in but it was unsalable because someone ripped off the connectors and we would have had to contact Sony to get them. But there it was on the shelf for sale. Then she just walked off and didn’t even try to help us. We will never go to that store again.
