I have been visiting the Prismajic experiential art exhibits since they began here in Englewood years ago, and I have thoroughly enjoyed each one. They finally landed a permanent home at Colorado Mills Mall (be sure to enter the mall through the Burlington Coat Factory entrance, as Prismajic can be a bit tricky to find), and once you arrive, you will be transported into another world of dreams, alternate realities, intentions, details, and hidden gems all around you. Erik gave us an overview and backstory of Shiki, the Yeti, and what each room represents. You are armed with only a black-light flashlight as you head off into the darkened wilderness of Shiki’s world and dreams. You could spend days inside looking at every little creature, and carefully crafted detail. Look up, look down, look all around. Be sure to stand in the Yeti feet wherever you see them on the floor, find the hidden red butterfly in each room (there are 4 in total), as well as all the poems, words, mini Shiki, and the well-hidden fox!
We also planned enough time to go have drinks and small bites at the Night Owl Cafe, which is located within Prismajic. We LOVED IT! The cocktail menu is so inventive and fun. The Night Owl cocktail was my fave! They had a really cool Mocktail menu as well, for those who don’t drink alcohol. The pretzels were so soft and delicious and we also shared the cheese plate, which was a perfect compliment to the pretzels.
We had such a fantastic time celebrating our friend’s birthday here, and we’re so happy we chose to do it at Prismajic Shiki Dreams and Night Owl Cafe! Kudos to Erik, all the artists, and everyone else involved in creating this exotic escape from the mundane. I can’t wait to go back. Buy your tickets online in advance (choose date and time) and go! You will love...
Read moreAn incredibly artistic and immersive art experience! This is a must-see if you're in the area! I would recommend going in knowing as little as possible. Very fun, and worth the price. My sister and I spent about 30 minutes inside, and we tried to find every secret we could. So expect to spend about 20-30 minutes exploring.
I think a lot of people might be walking into Shiki Dreams thinking it's a "smaller Meow Wolf" (that's what I thought at least). While Shiki Dreams is an immersive art experience like Meow Wolf, this exhibit strives to be slower and more mellow than Meow Wolf. Less of an overstimulating wonderland, more of a meditation experience.
Before walking in, the employee at the ticket booth will set up the story, and then ask you to download the "Shiki Dreams" app on your phone. The app allows you to scan symbols around the exhibit. These symbols unlock secrets on your phone. The app will also play music based on which room you're in, which adds to the immersion (bring headphones if you have them. If not, they have a few you can borrow). You're also given a UV flashlight that reveals secret messages throughout the exhibit. The whole thing felt like a mysterious fantasy scavenger hunt, we had a really fun time!
Also, there's one room that might be a tad scary for little ones. However, nothing jumps out at you or even moves in that room. It ended up being my favorite room, but I could see how little kids might get a little scared.
Can't wait to see what else Prismajic...
Read moreWent to the new Colorado Mills location on a date with my wife and it surpassed all expectations. The Night Owls bar deserves to be a mainstay for years with its speakeasy feel and delicious drinks and food plates. They had holiday drink specials and the Chai-lent Night was unreal. My wife and I will make this a frequent pre-game stop in the months and years to come.
The art experience was incredibly fun even for someone like me who rarely goes to or enjoys art exhibits. There were so many nooks and crannies to look in and wave your Majic flashlight. The big win for me that sold me on this was the competitive drive that kicked in to find the 4 butterflies and the Shiki’s (yetis) spread throughout. We spent close to an hour in the exhibit and found all the butterflies but zero Shiki’s. I’ve already decided I’ll be going back and bringing my 4 year old daughter with me and send her on a scavenger hunt of her own while I keep looking for Shiki. If I still can’t find Shiki, I’ll go back again in a few months with my wife.
Super fun attraction and I look forward to watching how the exhibit evolves over the course of time to keep it...
