I don't recommend going to this place if you require any sort of medical aid device. They will ask you for proof that you need it, in violation of the ADA. They claimed this was to be respectful of every one, but was incredibly disrespectful and a violation of my rights.
The desserts were good, according to my wife. I refused to give this company my business. And it's a cute building.
Edit: it was at two stars as I wanted to give the business the benefit of the doubt to make this right. But due to the reply I had to switch this to 1 star. I also cannot reply directly to the response to this. So here is that:
I was asked two questions "is that a service dog" this is okay, and I said yes. I was then asked for proof that she was a service dog, and as I tried to explain, but was rudely interrupted, is an illegal question to ask.
You should probably stick to making food instead of trying to practice law:
Colorado law is superseded by federal law, in this case the ADA. Specifically subsection 'inquiries' in the Americans with Disabilities Act Title III Regulations:
"Inquiries. A public accommodation shall not ask about the nature or extent of a person’s disability, but may make two inquiries to determine whether an animal qualifies as a service animal. A public accommodation may ask if the animal is required because of a disability and what work or task the animal has been trained to perform. A public accommodation shall not require documentation, such as proof that the animal has been certified, trained, or licensed as a service animal."
Colorado law follows a similar language.
I entered the establishment with my service animal between my legs with her leaning against me applying pressure. If you had awareness of what services a dog can provide then you would know that this is one of them. She was also wearing a vest that has "service dog" on it twice. A vest is not a requirement but made it apparent that she is a service dog along with the service she was providing at the time. It was very apparent that she was a service animal.
At this point you are correct I was politely asked if it was a service animal. And I said yes. I was then asked for proof that she was a service animal, at which point I said that was a violation of the law and was then interrupted and talked over as I tried to politely explain the violation that has occurred, and has been submitted to the ADA through the justice department.
Had an apology been given and empathy employed to understand why it's not okay to ask someone for proof of why they need a medical device I would not have written this review or submitted a complaint to the justice department.
I wish you the best in your business, you might want to take a business law class before you make a bigger mistake than this. I'm sure Redrocks community college offers one.
Edit 2 Yes I was asked for proof. The first question was "is that a service animal" the 2nd question was "Do you have anything saying that or proof of" which my wife was a witness too, and the other client in the shop which was a gentleman. Maybe you should have attended to the customer in front of you then addressed the situation (as my service animal was not causing any disruptions) instead of assuming it was not a service animal, and treated me like a normal customer instead of singling me out for my disability? If I was in a wheel chair would you have stopped talking to your customer, asked me why I had a wheelchair, then complain to your customer about people with fake wheelchairs? then continue to do it online? I never said you denied me service, I said you asked an illegal question and were hostile and discriminatory towards someone with a disability even going as far to make comments about "fake service" animals while I was there, waiting patiently to be served,...
Read moreUgh I want to keep this place allll to myself, BUT if anyone deserves the highest of praises for their work it’s Yeva and her shop. Prepare yourself because I can’t say enough great things about this place.
Parfait Co. is by far the best patisserie’s I’ve been to and if you wanted a representation of perfection you’ll see that every component of Yeva’s business is just that. I love this place, and I’m so excited to be there every time I go.
First of all, the atmosphere takes you somewhere else. Visually I don’t feel like I’m in “mine-town” Golden. I LOVE the blue shop front decorated with flowers, the little areas where people can sit down and enjoy their treats all while feeling like they’re in a garden. The pops of color, and the floral choices—you can tell care and effort is being put into this space. It’s gorgeous.
The inside of the shop is cozy, the music further sets the vibes of a French patisserie and you see a display of the most beautiful entremets.
I’ve tried every category offered and it’s ALL delicious. I bought cakes from here for special occasions and every single person that’s been served a slice couldn’t get over at how good the cakes were. The composition of flavors and balance between soft and crunchy is perfect. I’ve had someone mention it like 5x throughout the day how good the cake was. I’ve seen faces disappointed that the cake was finished already. Those cakes leave the crowd wanting more. That’s really the only downside, I wish I could buy them bigger for bigger celebrations! But nothing will stop me I will buy 2 if I have to :)
The Madeline’s are the best I’ve ever had, my favorite is the pistachio blackcurrant one, it’s TO DIE for. Croissants 10/10, oriental princess? Perfection.
What makes the flavors here so special is that they’re delivering the high-quality European standard of taste. She uses the best chocolate in the world, nothing is too sweet, even the caramel is a unique, less sweet version than its American counterpart. The fruity layers taste like REAL real fruit that in the overall composition of her cakes, truly standout. As a European, THIS IS IT. If you can’t visit Europe, a cake from Parfait Co. can be a window of what it’s like to taste good pastry ;) and I’m pretty sure google images and instagram posts speak for themselves, but man the cakes are true artistry.
On top of that I have mad respect and admiration for Yeva. She continues her education, constantly seeking out new flavors, travels the world and uses/incorporates that as her inspiration, and she always switches things up so if you want to try something make sure you get it while it’s there or it could be gone!! She keeps a great balance of novelty and I love seeing when she comes out with new works of art. A true artist, continually evolving.
Last thing, she’s really hard working. She’s consistent with her social media content, and it’s so well crafted. To manage that and a full pastry shop, special orders, and to keep a consistent quality all while always seeking out new things to put on the menu is serious dedication and she’s killin’ it in every category. All that, and the attention to detail in every component of her business is still there. That’s what we call, a BOSS.
Anyways, as much as I want to gatekeep, you need to go and see this place for yourself. It’s...
Read moreEva, the owner, pastry chef, woman of all the things, is soo sooo talented and you can see it and taste it in her products. We got a chocolate croissant, a pistachio flower, and the Lola and Le Chocolat “cakes.” Cakes in quotation because they’re more than just a cake. It’s art. Individual layers of deliciousness…mousse, a dulcey cremeux, crunchy layers, all enrobed in dark chocolate. Talk about melt in your mouth!! The Lola was also amazing! If you love the combo of strawberry & chocolate, then you gotta try this….a soft strawberry mousse on top that you can tell is fresh and not artificial. The chocolate croissant my husband ate & took one bite and just couldn’t put it down. We forgot to take a picture!! Perfect croissant layers with the perfect bake. My first bite into the pistachio flower was a dream. I thought it was just a plain croissant with a pistachio center…boy was I wrong! The whole croissant is filled with a chocolate ganache (I think). I actually ate that a couple days later and it was still the best croissant I’ve ever had. I popped it in the microwave for 15 seconds and voila! If you are in the Golden/Denver, Colorado area, I highly recommend Parfait Co. Fine Patisserie. Everything in her pastry shop looks so good. There's a little boutique in there too that sells French jams, and mixes straight from France. I can't wait to come back. Very clean, friendly atmosphere, and...
