I'm writing this review for two reasons, one good & one not so good. It may be a little long but I'll do my best to explain. For the past 10 years my wife & I have been renovating & remodeling our entire home, from top to bottom including the roof & the basement will be last. Our favorite go to is the Home Depot on Fruitville pk in Lancaster. We love the store we're almost always satisfied with our shopping experience there except for there was an incident there this past Sunday 4/25/21. We went there to get a new garbage disposal & a few other items as usual plus do a little window shopping for new ideas. It's our favorite place to look around. It was about 2pm & my wife said she needed to use the restroom so we went to the back of the store & I waited in the isle right across from the restroom area with a cart, her purse & just trying to stay out of the way of other shoppers. A gentleman who appeared to be an employee came right up beside me & closed the gate to the isle I was standing at then he closed another gate blocking of the restroom area so when my wife came out, she would have to go down a separate isle in order for us to meet in the middle of the store somewhere. That wasn't too big of a deal because we're probably going to walk the entire store anyways. The problem is when the man closed the gate on me I was a little confused because he never said a word. I had to look around to see what was going on. & right through the shelves in the other isle beside me was a towmoter getting ready to lift a pallet off of the top shelf on the back wall. The towmoter was less than 8 feet away from me. I thought why couldn't this man warn me. I was literally blocked in to a danger zone. I operate crane for a living & I've seen too many incidents & close calls for me to be standing practically right next to someone making a lift. I opened the gate to remove myself from the area & I closed it behind me. I opened the second gate by the restrooms & was exiting that area also when the employee came up behind me & in an angry voice he said " Sir, don't do that! We put those gates there for your safety." I couldn't believe what I was hearing. This guy actually blocked me into a danger Zone & now he's telling me I'm wrong for taking it apon myself to get out of harms way. I was angry myself. I pointed to the spot where I was standing & told him, "I was standing right there!" I couldn't believe that he didn't even warn me or ask me if I would like to exit the isle before they made the lift. After the young man & I had a few words with each other I could also hear the towmoter operator asking him if he wanted him to come over to handle the situation. I thought to myself that these guys are an accident waiting to happen & they seemed to be waiting for a confrontation of some sort. I hope that someone who works in management reads this review & check the security cameras at around 2pm Sunday 4/25/21 maybe you can use this info for a safety meeting with your employees so nothing like this...
Read moreI spent a little bit north of $4.5k here. Most of that was on appliances (fridge, washer, dryer).
Week 1 - Ordered Fridge, Washer, Dryer
Week 2 - Waiting
Week 3- Bought house. 3 days later was the scheduled delivery I set in week 1. 12 hours before delivery, I was called and told the washer and dryer were out of stock. Fridge was delivered. Delivery went smoothly, nothing got damaged, everything is good with that.
Week 4 - 2nd scheduled delivery for Washer/Dryer. Luckily they're in stock. The delivery team gets here and tells me they can't deliver because the dryer vent is oval (needed rounded) and the washer spill pan needs to be moved forward at least 4 inches away from the wall so the hoses don't get pinched.
I contact a plumber and have them come out. The dryer vent is a cheap and quick fix so that's not a big problem. The drain pain is a pain because it can't be moved out 4" or the doors won't shut. The plumber moves it out 3" and we hope for the best.
Week 5 - 3rd scheduled delivery for the Washer/Dryer. The team gets here about 2 hours earlier than they said. Luckily I was at home so not a big deal. The Dryer gets installed with no problems. The washer is installed but it turns out the drain pain is about 1.5" farther away from the wall then it needs to be. Now my door doesn't shut. I'd hate to see what it would be like if we moved it away the full 4" that was recommended.
So far this has been an unnecessary hassle. Moving in to a house requires energy without having Home Depot add on my tasks. Now I must try to see what I can do about moving the spill pan closer to it's original position so the door shuts.
I understand mistakes can be made and every home is different so not every installation will go smoothly. My biggest problems are.
Why did they tell me at the last minute the washer and dryer were out of stock? I ordered it 2 weeks ago, they should have known it way before then.
Why did he tell me the spill pan has to be moved out 4"? This is something he wrote down on the paperwork he left me with so I would have assumed he measured this instead of just picking a number.
On a somewhat unrelated issue. I also contacted them about installing a garage door operator. I set up the appointment, a week later I called them to confirm my appointment and they told me it wasn't in the system and I should reschedule it. I have all of the confirmation emails outlining the time/date the appointment was scheduled for. I ended up just having it installed by Shank Door (Myerstown). They were cheap, flexible, and did an...
Read moreNeeded items for my (2) 4-month old French Bulldog puppies who, now as an experienced Frenchie owner, knew could overheat quickly in my RV. BTW, inexperienced RV owner but know generator needs servicing ASAP & RV indoor AC runs off generator. Anyway, since RV was starting to warm up, lucky to be @ Home Depot. Quickly put both in car carriers on hand truck jury-rigged to prevent RV carriers from tipping over & when got inside air-conditioned Home Depot, (BTW, always have cleanup materials & cold H20 just in case), not one Home Depot staff member or fellow shopper gave me a hard time bringing them inside. Occasionally run into "bad apple" here & there even though my puppies have all their shots. Pleasantly surprised so many Home Depot staff members helped out & showed genuine concern for my Frenchies safety. One Home Depot woman was so worried, gave me free bottle of cold H20 upon leaving store. Such an enjoyable, unexpected surprise to meet so many Home Depot staff members & fellow shoppers as usually everyone loves a puppy, let alone two @ Home Depots wherever I go. Need to call around as appears to be a power failure @ KOA RV Park Lancaster/New Holland & breaking rules, not supposed to run generator until 10AM as generator works until heat of day, don't care as my two Frenchies are like my kids & do whatever's necessary to keep them safe. Don't think, based on experience were in danger @ Home Depot yesterday afternoon but better safe than sorry & know generator will shut off shortly. At least have engine AC running too, Surprised how hard it's been trying to find RV Repair shop to get generator serviced. Unfamiliar w/ area & more phone calls to RV Repair shops now that my puppies had AM walk. Keeps life interesting. Might need to drive back to Home Depot or nearby PetSmart & make phone calls from there as it's another hot day in 30' tin can on wheels. Met very few fellow RVers @ KOA who turned out to be bad apples & just walk away, KOA staff has been very understanding perhaps due to unexpected power failure. Hopefully power's restored as woke in a sweat. Most fellow dog owners can relate even if following rules, run into someone who doesn't like dogs but most do. Learn who to avoid & be thick-skinned but in general, regardless of age or type of dog, most folks are dog friendly. Never knew being a dog owner would enable me to meet so many friendly people. Too many dog stories & since it's just myself & two Frenchies, know get carried...
