This place of business is by far the worst I have dealt with. I have been DISCRIMINATED against for being a female that is how I felt when dealing with the associated that "helped" me. My husband and I had been shopping for a gun online and at our local gun stores. This would be my first gun purchase which is a big DEAL. My husband works out of town so I wanted my own for protection and with practice I would become comfortable and familiar with it. So after looking around I had decided on 2 which we stopped at Sportsman to look at them both I had my heart set on one. Not only did I want this particular gun for the way it looked but the price was right. From the get go the associate that helped us was VILE. We asked him to see the guns and he handed them to us I asked him on the price which he did give me however because we had been shopping online we knew that it was on sale so we asked him to check and indeed it was. He asked us both for our ID's which was not a problem my husband has bought guns from this location in the past. He said he would do a background check and so on. So he came back and had me answer some questions and told me it would take about 30 minutes to hang out in the store and if I left that my paperwork would be canceled. We waited in the store for about 5 minutes then he called my name through the intercom. As we approached him he proceeded to tell me that he was going to refuse the sale because he felt uncomfortable due to the fact that I didn't engaging in a conversation with him when he asked me why I picked that specific gun. Mind you he wasn't friendly from the get go. I felt crushed. I get it and understand buying a gun is a very serious purchase especially in the time we live in we can't never be to careful, I also know that they follow federal guidelines so the gun doesnât end up in the wrong hands. Yet I was compliant, my husband was compliant. My husband has bought guns from them in the past, there was no need for me to buy one for anyone else but myself! Iâm expected to be a professional gun handler to purchase one. It was very DISCRIMINATING and SEXIST!!!
After reading some of the reviews Iâm not the first women this happens to.
Update: I called Sportsman and spoke to the store manager Dustin just to make him aware of the situation. He told me "take your business...
Read moreMy father tried 2 separate times to purchase a firearm and each time the associates at the gun counter were extremely rude. Matching a lot of the reviews on here, dismissing him and ignoring him despite him wanting to make a purchase. Helping customers who walk up to the counter and not addressing him at all despite waiting for help first.
He opted to buy online and pick up in store to avoid rude treatment from the associates; the first time they told him the card holder needed to be present AFTER they had already canceled his order. They did not inform him of this prior to canceling, just shooed him away as if they did not have the option to have him pick it up later that day with the card holder present; keep in mind itâs a big purchase during the holidays and having to wait 7-10 days for a refund is ridiculous and completely avoidable. The second time he got a confirmation to pick up the order and they told him they would not sell it to him since the money was still pending which I have never heard of in my life for debit purchases. We called customer service they advise they saw everything fine on their end and couldnât understand why they were denying my father his purchase, they even spoke with the manager and confirm it was fine to pick up. They are discriminating towards him and from the sound of reviews left on here he isnât the only one they do this to. Finally when he tried to pick up the order AGAIN, they told him he got one question wrong for the application and will not sell him the firearm AND will also put him on a ban from purchasing a firearm for 31 days; yet on his email for the second order, it was put that âcustomer canceled/abandoned order.â Keep in mind my father has purchased multiple firearms before with no issues, yet as they were making him jump through hoops to buy this one item, a older white man was sold the same firearm with ease in the same timeframe they decided to cancel his first order. I wonât be surprised if a lawsuit arises from the mass amounts of issues with discrimination coming...
Read moreâTodays experience was horrible.. Where did the knowledgeable employees go?? The woman at the entrance was so exhausted she could barely get a word in between yawns, I went in at 7 pm. Looking for a magazine (not available and no recommendations he didn't know what to recommend) I asked the woman for some information about a particular item that I purchased cleaning for and all she said was gun counter, ummm usually I get this info at the front counter... This expirence makes me question whether I should continue doing business w Sortsmans..... âââââWe such a great experience. We were looking for a particular item for about 3 months, the 1st time we went to SW, it took about 30 minutes for an employee to ask what we needed. This visit was going to be our last attempt, and an employee greeted us right away. My husband looked at what he wanted to purchase. It might have taken 30 minutes to complete everything. I noticed that while the employee was helping us, he noticed another customer and let him know that as soon as he was done with us, he'd be helping him. I was extremely surprised and glad we gave SW another opportunity. We received great service on this visit. This was our 3rd visit. To be clear, the employees from our previous visits simply ignore everyone, not just us. The 1st one was ok, some employees (who were not there this time) think they are doing you a favor by helping you, not realizing they stay employed because customers make purchases. The 2nd visit was horrible. This 3rd visit was great. The young man who helped us made up for the 2nd horrible experience and the 1st mediocre experience we previously had. We did thank him and explained how our previous experiences were. He was very kind and apologetic regarding his fellow employees. We did get his name (my husband is holding on to his card). When we go back, we will be looking for him. Thank you for the...
