Clearly one of the worst Mexican restaurants in Las Cruces...PERIOD! Ordered a breakfast egg & bacon burrito, a chorizo & papas burrito, huevo a la Mexicana burrito & a side of fried beans.
Egg & Bacon Burrito: Literally an over-fried folded omelet with two slices of bacon laying on top of the egg within the burrito.
Chorizo & Papas Burrito: The potatoes were cooked correctly but the Chorizo was burnt.
Huevos a la Mexicana Burrito: Packed with beans but skimpy on the eggs, tomatoes, onions & jalapeños.
Fried Beans: Whipped beans packed with pork lard.
This is not good food & I do remember when Los Compas would serve great tasting food. Not anymore. Since coming back home, I've discovered Tacos Trokero in Canutillo & their food is excellent, despite it being a dive. Los Compas should take a field trip to this restaurant & learn something. Plus they need to learn the "at your service" concept which is necessary for the hospitality industry. This means to be ready & available to help when needed. Since Los Compas is a restaurant, this concept should be practiced EVERYDAY! And I know this because my field of expertise is in the hospitality industry. At no point whether it was pre-covid or post covid, should service decline or waiver. For example, my husband totally forgot the order number when he picked up our paid food. However instead of going above and beyond to figure out the order, the manager told my husband that without the order number they could not research within the placed orders. The manager then proceeded to walk away & left my husband standing until a waitress came by and asked further questions. And guess what happened once she had more information & spoke with the "Runaway Manager"... the order was found by the same manager that walked away. Isn't it incredible what a little questioning does! Again I know this because I've helped thousands & thousands of customers within the hospitality & property management industries.
We will not be going back to Los Compas & I encourage you to do the same. There are other Mexican restaurant choices & don't forget to be adventurous & seek outside of the city. Currently most restaurants are offering curbside pickup, if you don't feel comfortable dining in. However the most important advice I can give is, that if a business treats you like they don't need you, it's...
Read moreWHAT HAPPENED?! I have lived in LC for 17 years and Los Compas used to be my favorite breakfast place. I recently moved to Oklahoma and when coming home to visit I was so excited to go to Los Compas to soothe my need for delicious New Mexican comfort food. Unfortunately something has changed and the quality in which the food at Los Compas is prepared was a HUGE disappointment. Though the salsa was a delicious as ever, the chips were overly fried, very hard and dark; little did we know this was foreboding of the meal to come. I ordered my usual, a Mexican Omelette with beans, an order papas and chorizo to share and my daughter ordered a bean and cheese burrito with a side of rice. When the food arrived I was disappointed to see chopped green chile inside my overcooked omelette. There was very little chile, instead of the familiar long strips along the omelette which ensure green chile in every bite. My beans were clearly microwaved and dry on the outside. I used to rave about this dish, today I didn't finish it. The smothered burrito my daughter ordered was smothered not in green chile but in a watery green chile broth, more like soup base and very little green chile in the broth- she actually has to pile on the salsa from the chips to spice up her burritos and then had to drain her plate of broth into the salsa bowl. The papas and chorizo was just okay, though very little chorizo. If the lower quality of food is because of rising prices, maybe just charge your customers a little more to cover the rising costs instead of allowing the quality of your food to suffer. I'm just heartbroken seeing the deteriorating quality of what used to be one of the best New Mexican restaurants in LC. Read moreDon't go, I promise you this place should be rated as such (out of state folks) ..not a clue how they have a high rate and how we were lead to believe this was a good place to eat. Service was unwelcoming, we arrived at 7pm they closed at 8pm there were 3 groups of 2-4 people awaiting there food, this place was not busy and they had 3 servers not including staff that you could hear in the back. We were a group of 6. We were in the lobby for a bit of time as the host seemed we would be too much to take on at 7pm and she had to go ask. A male server came and said he would take us. Bad impression but as many places closed at 7pm we learned from this experience. I had let this red flag go🚩and other services issues🚩🚩🚩 because this was the closest sit down restaurant that was open and we needed hot meal that was fresh food instead of fastfood pick up as we had traveling. We were served low budget school cafeteria mystery meat. Don't get there beef ..don't do it! The chicken is dry and no seasoning. The server let me know that everything they serve is prepackaged so there was no customization. I went with the cheese enchiladas to play it safe but my family didn't. We were laughing at our terrible food, renamed the plates each other ordered and moved on. Los Compas Chicken will be forever know as chicken nagas(butt). I was going to write a review that same night and it wouldn't have been as short... as we had more family traveling the next day I wanted to warn them with posting a review.. but since we had to go eat something else and it was late, I didn't write the review. But guess what they ate 😂 during lunch.. chicken butt! When we meet up we laughed at our terrible experience. If you like mystery meat, chicken butt and want a laugh at how terrible food is here go to Los...
