Tacos & Shell-ah’s — Restaurant in Las Cruces

I am so disappointed with our experience tonight. Husband and mine first time trying, the menu is great, & the decor/overall vibe is super inviting. We ordered calamari bites to start which came out pretty quick and were very hot and super good. Unfortunately after that is just disappointing. We waited over an hour for our entrees. We both ordered 3 tacos w/fries. Waitress kept coming by and saying it would be right out. Whatever no big deal, seems like a mistake was made but it happens. Little frustrating when everyone around us that came in after us was getting served before us, but we didn’t complain. When we finally got our food everything was cold. Like grossly cold. All the cheese on my tacos had coagulated together, it did not look nearly as appetizing as the food around us that had obviously hot cheese on their plate. I ate one taco but that’s all I could do. The French fries had ketchup that was already dried. Waitress came by to ask how everything was, I said it was cold, it’s obviously been sitting for awhile, the cheese is coagulated. She said she’ll talk to the kitchen. Then returns to say they can remake the food but their backed up so it will be a while lol. No thanks, just bring us the check we’ve already waited over an hour for cold food. Charged us the full amount, no mention of comping anything. There was obviously a huge mistake made, but it didn’t even seem worth talking to the waitress to figure something out, and was honestly frustrating that she served us food that looked like that in the first place and had no other options other than waiting another hour for it to be remade. I have been in the past a regular "to go" customer on the weekends treating myself to the once delicious Seafood soup . Can't recall the name. However the owner is darling. They know its me when I order as well as a side of broth which was exquisite. It has been quite some time since I have been by and I truly wanted to speak with the owner privately but they are always very busy nor do I want to call when I know they are. Probably 6 months or more since my last soup which I hate to say was awful. The broth had 0 taste. She gave me a little cup of some sauce to add to make it taste better give it a zing. She had never given me that before. It lead me to think she knew it was blah. The veggies were good but Like the previous time all of the seafood other than the fish was very tough. Rubber I could not chew. I have My own theory as to why the seafood changed and is now rubbery. I'm sure they know as well. The soup is very expensive I have no problem paying for it. It was wonderful. So unless they have gone back to making it the way they have since they opened I'm not going to buy. But ladies if you are reading your reviews you know me. I loved that soup. Again I Intended to talk in person however my.schedule leaves Me 0 time. I have not tried anything else there but I've heard good things about the food that it Is great . I have Celiac disease and kept hearing this place advertised on local radio. I love Fish n Chips and thought this would be a great place to try. Went there for my Birthday. Not a good experience. First, it took about 30 mins to get our Take Out order handed to me. The order I'd placed no less than 45 mins prior. Then the person at the cash register rung it up (expensive, so better be good! Ah well, it's my Birthday). The "fish"? It was like a bootstring with batter. Yes, it was that thin. Only ONE of those too on each taco. If it hadn't been battered I'm not sure I'd be able to tell it apart from the shredded cabbage. We'd also ordered a couple appetizers. Would have been left hungry if it wasn't for the filler sides and app. Additionally, when I paid for the food (before it even came out of the back... then waited another 20 mins) I left only a small tip because A) it was already ridiculously expensive B) I had no idea if the food was any good C) I was only picking up the food, not being served and it took 10 mins to be acknowledged anyway. So, when I saw the person (who'd rung up my order and handed me a receipt) she gave me serious stink-eye. So entitled!
