The Hair Lounge — Local services in Las Cruces

I was very excited to try out The Hair Lounge for this first time, but unfortunately I don't think I'll ever be going back.

I booked a color consultation with Sheyanne and that actually went very well, she didn't have many openings for how much time this particular service needed so I booked an appointment in about two weeks time. After about a week I received a call from the salon asking if we could push the appointment from 4pm to 4:45pm that same day (so she could fit in another customer). Not very professional, especially since I had already explained that I didn't have ample free time due to having a young baby at home AND I had already been booked for a few days, but I reluctantly agreed because I know how it feels to need the money.

It's now very obvious to me that I should have never agreed to the appointment being moved. I showed up to my 4:45pm appointment about ten minutes early and Sheyanne was still in the middle of the service booked a week after mine. I was expecting her to finish up before my allotted time but that was nowhere near the case. I was not in her chair until 40 minutes after my appointment was supposed to start, 5:25pm. I really considered just walking out due to the obvious disregard and disrespect to my time and life, but I had been wanting this hairstyle for a very long time and was naively hopeful she would somehow rectify the situation.

I was, once again, very wrong. She was not very apologetic at all, and whenever she did try to cough out some sort of apology she blamed the previous customer and her "long hair" instead of taking any sort of responsibility. She rushed through my service as fast as she possibly could and I was finally done at about 7:55pm, about three hours after my appointment was supposed to start. She had told me at the initial consultation that it would only take about two hours, but I suppose that's what happens when you're nearly an hour late to your own booking.

I will say that my hair turned out very nice and she did a good job on it despite everything, but I ended up being charged even more than I was quoted. Which is absolutely ridiculous considering I should have at least been offered some kind of discount after so blatantly disrespecting me and my time... but I just paid it and left because I was emotionally exhausted at that point.

All of this to say I was extremely disappointed with the professionalism and timeliness of this establishment and will not be returning for any...

I was surprised to read a negative review for Sheyanne because my experience with her was excellent. She went above and beyond to make sure that I was happy with my hair cut. She also seems like a genuinely nice person with a good sense of humor.

I have really thick, wavy hair between 2b/2c and generally tend to have a hard time finding hair stylists who can actually manage it. When I go looking for a new person to cut it, my priority is finding someone who can do a good job and leaves me feeling good about myself. Unlike other customers, timeliness isn't necessarily a priority for me, because what matters most in those instances is the end product. Notice that the other reviewer was clearly very happy with her results.

Sheyanne clearly cares about her craft and she has perfected it. She might take some more time, but that's not a negative. It's a sign of someone who pays attention to detail and accuracy.

In my situation, other hair stylists have taken sheers to my curls and absolutely ruined months of growth. So when I find someone who is conservative with their approach, is a perfectionist, and able to tend to particular concerns, that's a big win.

Hopefully that alleviates any concerns for those of you who are looking for an emphasis on quality. I definitely recommend...

Love love love this place! So long story short, I was going to the same place for a while and got booked Sheyanne. She helped me fall back in love with my hair! Welllll... on my follow up appointment I was told she had left for greener pastures, so I allowed the lead stylist/owner do my hair. This was not a good idea and I hated it. Went back again to allow her to fix it and was still unsatisfied. So upset and like a dog with his tail between the legs I reached out to Sheyanne to figure out where she was now. (And yes this is the short version! ) She got me in and went to work on fixing the banding and the base color that was totally wrong. She has transformed it back to a masterpiece!
