Rich Custom Jewelry — Local services in Las Vegas

I don’t write many reviews but this one is much deserving. I am super grateful to have stumbled upon Rich and Aaron.

Here is my story: I bought a loose diamond online and had a beautiful ring setting custom made for me overseas. I was so excited to have my diamond set. I did a quick search on Yelp the second I received it and was so happy that a local jeweler (Jeweler A) nearby could set it for $100 and it would be done a few days later. I went to Jeweler A and found out that, unfortunately for me, the hidden halo was made over 1mm too short in length. My diamond wouldn’t fit. They said the only way for it to work is if they ordered a new head for around $400-500 and my halo would be gone also. The owner’s nephew told me that his uncle had 15 years of experience and to trust him. I left the store to get some more opinions.

Jeweler B told me that if someone said they can get the diamond to fit, they are going to mess up the ring and it wouldn’t look good. I think they quoted me around $900 for a new head with hidden halo.

Jeweler C.. these women were not very kind. They told me, “This is why you buy local.” “There is no way to make this work. It is never going to fit.” “Look at these plain settings you can get for $400.” (Btw, my setting cost half of that and had lots of details with hidden stones.) “To get a new setting made exactly the same will cost you around $2000, but it is an investment that will last you forever.”I walked out and went to my new appointment at Rich’s Custom Jewelry.

At this point I just lost all hope. I have already accepted the worst. I knew the diamond wouldn’t fit. I knew I would be spending a lot of money. I knew the head would probably need to be replaced or I would have to buy a new setting. Rich’s shop was the smallest out of all of them.

I sat down and spoke with Aaron and was not excited about my ring anymore. I kind of was just in a terrible, disappointing mood. Aaron stepped in the back to talk to Rich about it and he comes back and says, “If there’s a will…” and told me that for around $500 they can set MY diamond into MY setting by shaving off some of the gold on the inside of the halo and adding gold on the prongs so that it would fit around the stone properly. I was so thrilled. It was the best answer/solution I had. I jumped at it and he told me it would be done in 2-3 weeks.

I honestly didn’t have much faith in the process. I kept thinking my ring was going to look weird when I picked it up. I was sooo happy when I received a text ONE WEEK later telling me my ring was done. I made the next appointment and drove straight there to pick it up. It was BEAUTIFUL! The ring looks so perfect. You cannot tell that any extra work was done to the ring. Rich stepped out to talk to me and told me that it wasn’t easy and he wouldn’t allow an apprentice to do it. Only himself.

I entrusted Rich Custom Jewelry to create 6 custom cremation pieces.. Went in with a vision of what I wanted made, had to be waterproof , how I wanted my moms jewels from her old pieces distributed into each piece. Was treated with the utmost respect, as well kind hearted with the project they were about to do for me. We discussed my vision, notes were taken, moms old jewelry left in their care. A few days later I was asked to come in and approve wax molds. I was not completely happy with mold of what was to become 2 pieces. They explained that with the amount of diamonds being placed that was how it had to be. My vision was not there for the piece because of limited space. I told them if that was the best they could do, then go forward. Once I got the call to do final approval of 1st piece, I couldn't wait to get there. I walked in, he sat me down and presented me with exactly what I envisioned. My eyes welled up, I couldn't see anything else. The Jeweler designing my piece yelled back to Rich " We got it!". I was staring at disbelief and asked how and why he changed from Original Wax. His response, "it was not your vision, not what you wanted, so we made it work to your vision." He told me to turn the piece over and look at the back. Without me asking he went a step further and engraved the tatoo from my shoulder onto the back of my piece. I LOVE that he added that secret extra touch to a piece that means the world to me. They followed my direction on every piece to not polish out makers marks, take off burrs or imperfections. I told him none if us kids were perfect, we each had imperfections and sometimes rough around the edges. Each piece tarnishes/wears different, the same as mom's kids do. I , and my family wear our piece with love, keeping Mom always close. I receive beautiful comments on my pendant always. To see eyes advert to it warms my heart. Honestly I have had 2 people that I had never met tell me they knew the piece was VERY SPECIAL and so was MOM.

If I could give more than five stars I would. Aaron went above and beyond my expectations. I had been envisioning and shopping for a pair of earring for more than 15 years. A colleague mentioned one day that her husband custom made a pair of earrings for her, that were similar to what I was looking for. So, I began the search to find a custom jeweler. I found Rich Custom Jewelry through an exhaustive search and went over and met with Aaron. Aaron is uniquely personable, deeply talented and creative and he always wears a smile. I felt confident about my transaction from start (after leaving pricey gold to be used to trade) to finish. He gave timelines and stuck to them. The earrings are a beautiful work of art, uniquely designed with African symbolism that characterizes my life and there likely isn’t a pair like them anywhere in the world!
