Be wary. Many of the current reviews are by current employees or family friends of owner and employees. Editing my review because the first was incentivized by owner when they had a number of negative reviews to push down.
In a matter of a few days Source Academy lost 8+ employees. More than half of their staff. They seemed to just hire and put anyone in the classrooms with our children and while there was clearly had no time to properly train them. My child in Pre-K had a great teacher and she was asking for help and a co-teacher but never supported and expected to care for 20+ children on her own. I just learned the actual ratio in these classrooms is 1-13. I firsthand witnessed or overheard previous directors such as Felicia and executive staff Jerek treating and talking to the teachers very poorly, even bordering abusively. They treat the women who work there like complete garbage. Itās no wonder they left in hoards. This sort of thing is a cycle. This place is not up to standard, it is often filthy, the food is all canned and my kiddos often donāt eat it. My children would be left wet or dirty for who knows how long before pick up.
Because of their lack of organization and staffing they fell short in many ways and neglected my childās safety while boarding a CCSD bus on two separate occasions during our final week and blamed the bus driver. When CCSD investigated it was found out their statements were a lie. The school buses have audio video cameras inside and outside of their buses.
The final straw was witnessing a male teacher on his 3rd day very aggressively yelling at the Pre-K class. He did not realize I was in the bathroom helping my son at pick up. I notified the owner and she said she would āinvestigateā He was allowed to finish out the day and the next with our children. This choice was extremely concerning and despite being able to overlook their struggles while securing new staffing I could no longer keep my children there. The owner clearly doesnāt seem concerned with the care of the children. This business is being run on the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHonestly so depressing from the start. I was told they were authorized to accept Child Care Aware through the military. Child Care Aware stated that they donāt have the proper licenses for eligibility. My son enjoyed seeing his friends and overall enjoyed care. That being said, he started acting out from stress at least once a week because his dad was deployed. Instead of trying to support him, they would just send him home. Thereās only so much I can do at home- and as a place that considers themselves military friendly, youād think they would have more knowledge when it comes to dealing with children that have this awful thing happening in kidsā lives. Teachers came and went like crazy. I asked his teachers why they were leaving and they said that their wishes for a more structured classroom were never met. Not only that, but the payment system is outrageous. I would ask to pay for 4 weeks worth of care at a time. Every month was a different number. I would end up being short or overcharged. The last week of care, I noticed I was overcharged nearly $200. After two months of trying to contact them and get a straight answer- they stated that they could give a refund, but only the directors manager could do it. I called today and evidently NO. They do not give refunds AT ALL- even if itās their mistake. I have to use their drop in care for the $200 that I was overcharged. Meaning I get two days worth of care even though I will probably never use it. Overall disappointed considering I even recommended their facility to other parents at the start. Not anymore. I will use the drop in care I suppose if I absolutely need it to get my moneys worth- but never again will I enroll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe staff takes the kids out at 7:45 in the morning no matter how cold it is. My kids kept colds all the time they were there and caught other viruses I had never heard of. I really disliked the place. The staff was okay with the exception of one particular lady I felt should never not be working with younger kids. My daughter complained of having a scratch on her upper arm. I looked at it and it appeared to have been a nail print that completely took the skin off her arm. She explained to me that one of the workers had did it, but she couldn't give me details. Well recently she was able to tell me what happened. She explained that she had gotten into a rift with another kid and the worker grabbed her and pinched her arm while yelling, "don't do that!" Well she denied doing anything to her at all, but I also witnessed her being rough with a child as I walked in one morning, so I felt she had and was more than capable of doing it. I picked up bad vibes when I first met her and continued to have them as time went on. My daughter was potty trained when I took her to the school, and should have gotten better as time went on, but she did not. She continued to wet herself all the time she was in her care and in her care only. Anytime she was with another worker there were not any problems of wetting. As far as I am concerned she should only work with the older kids if they want to keep her there. Every time my daughter looks at her scar she is reminded of what she did and is very upset that she has the scar. I will not be returning and will continue to cringe knowing that she's still an employee there working with other helpless and...
