Global Cafe — Restaurant in Lawrence

I think the coffee was 5 stars and the clean space is 5 stars. However, I'm not happy with the service, really. I tried to get a space for a large party, and I understand why they ask everyone to be present, but we had a person who was just running late, unfortunately and the hostess wasn't very understanding. She was quite content to just let a large party stand for an indefinite amount of time. A gentleman staffer (the manager, I presume) was obviously asking about us and the hostess pretty much lost her cool saying something along the lines of, "its been large party after large party today and whichever party is here first will be the one that is served". And I think the icing on the cake was when the gentleman graciously seated us, the hostess brought us water and said, "I will be back when everyone is here". We eventually were served by a great waitress who didn't die on the hill of "everyone has to be here".

We were there to say goodbye to a friend who is moving out of state. I wasn't going to complain at that time and distract from why we were all there. I enjoyed the food and the company but I just don't feel comfortable going back.

I highly doubt that I will be back...

We are from out of town and we’re told about your restaurant so this morning we thought we would try it. We walked into the restaurant and were greeted by no one which was fine and wrote our name on the list and went and stood by the bar and thought we would get a drink why we waited. The person behind the bar didn’t say one word to us. Three people got up from the bar so we sat in the seats, mind you plates and stuff still all in front of us which was still fine at this point. A table offered us to sit at a table they had the same lady from behind the bar who failed to recognize us for now 10mins walks over and says no you guys can sit here so we proceed to sit at the bar and asked if we could sit there and she said yes. Then instead of cleaning up the plates in front of us still she starts cleaning off this table that she said she was closing. At the point we are still not acknowledged maybe going on 20 minutes now. I have been in the restaurant industry for 10 years and this was by far one of the worse experiences I have ever experienced! We left and thank the lady for her amazing customer service. I will never give this restaurant...

Hands down the worst food in Lawrence run by a manager with a bad attitude to match. The meals I tried were grossly under seasoned and made with low quality ingredients nearing inedible. I was unhappy with my initial meal (the New Mexican Enchiladas which had virtually no cheese, were colder than room temperature, and made with frozen fajita chicken) and had barely touched it so my waitress asked if she could get me something different. I went with the Global Quesadilla which was drowned in a pool of what they claim is “green chile sauce” and I picked around what I could because I was hungry (see the photo of slop attached for reference). When I went to pay, the manager tried to charge me for the meal I sent back in addition to the replacement meal and argued with me about why I felt it was inappropriate to expect a customer to pay for a dish they sent back. She passive aggressively said “I guess I’ll just ring it up as a donation meal” as if I was robbing the homeless for refusing to pay for a meal I didn’t eat. Seriously skip this place if you expect positive customer service and a half...
