I don’t leave reviews, ever. It actually took me forever to figure out how to even use leave a review, but I stuck out the learning curve because I wanted to share. I placed a to go order tonight from the Mad Greek. I have been craving a good alfredo for months, and have tried every other spot in town that serves alfredo. Nothing was right, it was either too bland, or just straight up tasted like a microwaved frozen dinner (looking at you, Minsky’s). My husband’s coworker suggested the Mad Greek, and I was hesitant because the name suggests they specialize in Greek food - surely I would just be disappointed again. Wrong. This alfredo was the best damn (can I say that here?) take out alfredo I have ever had. I came into the restaurant to pick up the order, and the staff was quick and attentive. As soon as I left, I called my husband to say that we needed to come here on a date ASAP because the atmosphere inside was amazing. The charm was cheesy and perfect, and everything was just close enough to feel intimate and cozy, but not claustrophobic. I got home, had to feed the baby, and finally sat down to eat my food. I’m used to cold food, having a newly-turned-one-year-old, but the food was still warm when I got to it. And I immediately fell in love. My husband had the falafel, and said it was amazing. The alfredo…. I could write sonnets about this alfredo. The sauce was exactly what I have been looking for. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked. There was bacon and mushrooms in the pasta as well, which I wasn’t expecting, but it added depth and complemented it perfectly. We also got the gyro fries. I have never had a gyro before, or gyro meat, so I have no comparison, but the depth of seasoning was phenomenal. Everything was cooked perfectly and the taste was to die for. Alfredo isn’t a hard dish, yet so many restaurants absolutely obliterate it. I often crave alfredo, but jarred sauce is disgusting, and I often don’t have the time to make my own sauce (see fresh one year old note above). I am genuinely looking forward to, and am thrilled for, the next time I am looking to satisfy that craving. I will be returning to the Mad Greek promptly (and hopefully for that aforementioned date I...
Read moreIt was a beautiful evening in LFK today, 6.29. We got sat with no wait time as we requested the patio (two other people were already sat and figured some fresh air would be great). Think it was our first mistake. Inside was busy but no one waiting to be sat, didn’t see much traffic into the restaurant at all after we sat at 5:45. Our server greeted us after 7 minutes, got our drinks at 6:30, and our appetizer at 6:45. It’s actually 7:10p - we haven’t gotten our main meals and the table that sat down 25 minutes after us just got their meal. The server has vanished without a trace for our zone (we had a female) the other tables had a male and seemed to waited on appropriately. I LOVE this place, but find servers that know how to check on their tables even if the kitchen is backed up. We wanted more pita for our app and we never saw her again. I had to ask the other server to get our server. She had maybe 3 other tables out here and everytime she’s come out (once for each table) she doesn’t acknowledge the rest of the room. She apparently had another table inside that gave her a bad review and she got down on herself but a word of advise: don’t let one person ruin the experience of your entire zone/section. I can take a long wait time out the kitchen, I cannot take not being simply acknowledged/asked if I want another drink etc. and if the patio is too much don’t have a server on that zone or close it down for seating. Got our food at 7:15 and had to put a to go order in because they close soon and I’m not a-hole diner 🤣 also shout out to the hostess she started busting her booty to refill some drinks and help the...
Read moreWent to enjoy dinner with a friend this evening. The flowers and patio-beautiful. Our service from Ruby was wonderful. The spinach and cheese raviolis unfortunately came with unexpected protein—a BUG—which I discovered on my fork as I was about to eat the other half of a ravioli (after I had eaten almost half the plate, so not sure how many bugs may have been consumed-eww). I was quiet about the situation as I wasn’t trying to bring attention to the other guests dining, and again, Ruby was wonderful and absolutely disgusted at the bug. I was asked multiple times what to replace my meal with and that it could be made to-go even-I finally said okay.
Disgusted at a bug being in the plate of half eaten raviolis, I lost my appetite fully.
But she brought it in a box, kindly—later bringing the bill. When I questioned it being full price (not mentioning to her it was double the cost of my original order) but again this was not her fault. She asked the manager on staff (Nicole) what to do... Ruby apologized as she handed me the full bill.
So I guess, perhaps check for bugs/bug larvae and maybe ensure the food is fresh before serving it and perhaps talk to management because that was handled unprofessionally and if the owners were there, I feel they would have handled the situation much...
