World Market — Local services in Lawrence

I visited my local world market today just to pick up some last minute gifts for Christmas and I left absolutely disgusting and shocked by the store management. I was shopping around and noticed a man watching me in a weird way. So i kept going, he followed me around for about 10 minutes or so looking at nothing but women and kids. He finally stops and pretends to look at something and i looked up at him and he looked me up and down in a way that made me almost burst into tears immediately. I was more uncomfortable than I have ever been in my life. I took my purchases to the counter and decided i would ask for a manager while i was there. The nice cashier requested for a manager and gave her some brief information about why she was needed. The cashier let me know she was on her way up and continued checking me out. The manager walks up, walks past me and says “there’s lot of weird people back there.” She did not stop to talk to me, father more information or even asked what happened. She did not even look at me. The cashier apologized on her behalf and the manager went on with her business yelling at the “stupid” register because she couldn’t get it to work. I am mostly appalled because that man continued to walk around the store around children and other young women. This manager has no regard for her customers or the all female staff that was working.

World market is trying to just apologize and brush it off to “improve the store” this is outrageous. This manager is a sorry excuse and is not fit to...

I'm a caregiver for the elderly.. and there was one unfortunate event at world market where my elderly client had an accident in the store, I even had to buy a towel from the store so I could drive her back home without getting anything in my car (so they made money!)...now fast forward a few months and we go back in to shop, and the first lady at the checkout came right up to me and asked me to not let her use their restroom. I was shocked and appaled..and saddened. I told the clerk that I cannot control her bowels and im sorry for the past event but I will not be telling an elderly woman that she can't use the restroom in this store. Absolutely no one...especially the elderly, should be discriminated against because of an accident they could not have possibly stopped from happening. If a kid throws up in the store do you tell the mom the kid is never allowed in again? No. And it's not like my client did it on purpose. She actually used the restroom before we went out for the day. I'm unhappy with this mindset and behavior...

I came in looking for some decorative throw pillows to spice up an old couch. Brittney saw that I was looking around and asked if I needed help. I asked her if she was good with colors and she said yes. I'm an artist so I can confidently say she has a good handle on color theory and texture contast skills...I just wanted a second (and a woman's) opinion. Brittney was extremely helpful and helped me out personally match different pillows together for about 35 minutes. I was very impressed with her knowledge and willingness to help.The selection at world market is always wonderful. I would highly recommend world market, especially the Lawrence, Kansas location as the staff is always very friendly, knowledgeable and even seem happy or to have fun helping you decide what decor would work...
