Five Guys — Restaurant in Lawrence

The food is overpriced, and they wanted a tip. When I said no on the card reader, I noticed that the cashier pushed the tip jar out more so that I could see it. There were only two of us and just order cheeseburgers and small fries and two milkshakes and the cost was over $30. To my surprise, the milkshakes were small ones and for the price, I thought they would be much larger. The price at Steak and Shake would have been in a large container for the same price we paid for them. Then had to go back up as to the counter as they did not give us our fries. One the tip jar should not be there as they get a salary or pay hourly and the fact is none of them bring us our food to us, and we had to go up to the counter for our milkshakes, then for our food, and then go back up to let them know that we did not get our fries and again we had to go up to the counter for the fries that they had forgotten to gives. In fact, they never come out from behind...

This is an upscale burger joint. The food is intentionally basic, yet makes an effort to be best in class for what they do.

While you wait for your food, you get your ketchup then soda at one of two high end soda fountains. You also have all the shelled peanuts you want.

The buns and condiments are all very good. The meat was messed up and reconstructed due to sloppy handling on the grill, falling apart as we ate. Their fries are skin-on, rather greasy, salty, and delicious.

The location is a bit hard to find. It gets lost hidden in a corner, in a sea of small retail shops and restaurants.

They make a tasty burger and have good fries most of the time. Sometimes the burgers can be overly greasy and from time to time the fries could cook a few minutes longer. The staff is friendly and the food is good more times then not. They also give you alot of bang for your buck (FRY ORDERS ARE BIG). For the most part it is a solid place to eat but can be alittle inconsistent in quality. Lowered original review last 2 times we have went the burgers where wet. I assume they are wet from to much grease, maybe they have went to using a fattier lower grade beef, but there is nothing more gross then a wet burger. Unsure at this point if we will...
