What a great little market and cafe. I purchased corn on the cob, beefsteak tomatoes, some Mexican Pastry and 1pc of vanilla tres leches cake. I bought these on the market side. Then I worked my way to the cafe/kitchen. I ordered 2 beef tacos. My Spanish is very limited. The sweet woman helping me spoke zero English. There were a lot of outside workers enjoying their lunch. I ended up with 2 papusas. Not sure of the meat filling- looked like chicken. (LOL), then a gentleman spoke to me and this time I got 2 beef fajita tacos on nice fresh corn tortillas. I kept the papusas too. They offered refrigerated cases of soda pop including Jaritos and juices, they also had large containers of several flavors of Agua Fresca of which I ordered a Grande Mango flavor. You could get your beverage with milk added as well. Probably seating for 25. No menu-once I moved up in line I could not only smell but I could see the steam tables which faced the staff and were loaded with food. There were a handful of things I didn't recognize. What I did recognize was beef fajitas, beef lingua, tripe, caldo de res, refried beans, Mexican rice, fresh tortillas. I sat down and opened the 2 beef tacos and ate one. It was really good and I was full so took the rest home. They sure donât skimp on the beef!!!! There were lots of diners coming and going. Most of them were getting combination plates. Iâm going to have to figure that out next time. I had asked for a side of frijoles, but I was likely confused because I think the beans and rice only came with combination plates. Anyway, I enjoyed my taco and Iâll definitely go back after I polish up my...
Read moreThey have great food coming out of the kitchen. All their tacos are good, but their tacos al pastor are always on target and my go to. Their menudo is full of flavor. The meat market offers traditional cuts and I've never had any issues with anything I buy here. However, this last time, their tamales Veracruzanos needed some attention. The masa needs to be better incorporated with the lard to remain firm and not crumbly. I did find a rib bone in one and not much pork rib meat. The other tamales are good and wrapped in traditional corn husk, while the Veracruzanos come wrapped in banana leaves. The staff is cordial and friendly. I've been coming here for years and my Mexican aunt liked coming here after her chemotherapy treatments. Be sure to check your final payment, as I was accidentally charged $11.98 for 2 tacos but got a full refund when I went back, and they also covered the pork rib tamal that didn't meet the standard. Being half Salvadorian and half Mexican, has provided me with excellent examples of both cuisines and their cooked meals meets the requirements for good traditional comfort food. My only wish, would be for them to also offer pupusas. Big thanks to the staff for being so customer...
Read moreOrder 2 tortas de milanesa to go. I was kind of surprise that each were 10.99 EACH. Very expensive... but hey, maybe they could be really good....Negative, they were the worst tortas I had ever. The meat was burnt, not overcooked, they were burn to a crisp, both milanesas, like probably this has been cooking since yesterday. Also they make them with cheddar cheese, ok I get the texmex vibe, but come on tortas never have yellow cheese!!! While waiting did notice that not that many people were coming in to order food, granted maybe was the day or hour (about 6:35pm on a Thursday) but you know a place is good when you see traffic, specially Mexicans... so just saying.
Ordene 2 tortas, las milanesas las quemaron y pusieron queso amarillo a la tortas (no mam3s) luego bien cara. Si quieres algo bueno y a buen precio no recomiendo q compres aquĂ. (Al...
