I had to call an Ambulance for my Mother on Monday 1st of April, 2019 she was very very sluggish and Could barely stay awake to answer any questions, or function, so the Ambulance asked where did I want her taken, My Big Mistake was saying Tennova,-UMC In Lebanon Tn. ! Well let me Just say it will ABSOLUTELY BE THE LAST TIME. It was around 4 PM on Monday evening April 1st 2019 in the ER, they were very polite and understanding with my concerns about my moms issues! , They ran CT scan on her Head to make sure it wasn't a Stroke, and they also ran an Xray on her Chest and CT scan on her Chest also a EKG . On CT scan Of Chest they diagnosed her with pneumonia !! My Mom could not stay awake she continued falling asleep and not able to function at all on her own. But when asked Questions she would try and answer, with she could not remember or just did not know, very confused, then would fall right back to sleep?? So the ER Admitted her, Ok so, let me explain real quick, she had been found in her apartment lethargic on February 6th by her caregiver, in the same odd situation of not being able to stay awake so was taken to Summit hosp. She was then Admitted after diagnosis of pneumonia! Got out of Summit on the 12th of February, after 6 days of Strong IV. Antibiotics..She came home with me for few weeks, So When in same situation on April 1st 2019 was taken to Tennova UMC hosp. After the series of tests ran they admitted her, Diagnosis pneumonia!! After seven hours laying In ER, they Finally got her into a room In the OB SECTION OF HOSP??? My Mother is 72 years old by the way . ROOM 115 to be exact, She was only seen by one Doctor Uzi, On evening of April 2nd, around 8pm I was sitting in my moms room when the doctor came in, he did not speak to her he did not touch her in any way he just stood there ranting to me that she was sleeping to much and that she was on to many Medicines?, then insisted I walk to another room with him to show me the list of medicines my mother takes on daily basis, AGAIN NEVER SPOKE TO MY MOM, NEVER LISTENED TO HER CHEST, NOTHING AT ALL!!!! Then walked Away, ok Now On Wed. Morning I recieved a call from Hosp. To come and pick her up Doctor Uzi, had Released her to go home, I then Asked the nurse was my mom awake and talking to them?? She said that, was her first day back so what was the normal for my mother, I said well if he released her she will be up ready to go home getting on her clothes?? So I asked again is that the way she was she said NO MA'ME SHE IS STILL SLEEPING VERY HEAVY, I said well this doesnt make sense that he is releasing her when that her sleeping so hard is why she was there and was diagnosed with pneumonia in the ER and admitted by the ER period. So I asked her to please contact a caseworker from the hospital that I would like to speak with them a lady then called me back about an hour later and I tried to explain to her that my mother being so groggy and sleepy is what pneumonia did to her it's not she's just sleeping! IT is from the pneumonia!!. I said and the nurse I just spoke to said my mother was still out of it.. She informed me that he released her so that was what needed done. Then SHE LIED TO ME AND SAID OH MY MOTHER WAS UP SITTING IN CHAIR ALL CHIPPER HER EXACT WORDS!! I got to hosp. My poor mom was in the chair with tray in front of her with heart monitor on and she said..to me honey I heard someone speaking outside my door saying well that all she was doing was sleeping she could go home and do that!!!!! And btw no caseworker ever came in her room!!SO I GOT MY MOTHER DRESSED CALLED FOR NURSE TO REMOVE THE IV. AND ASK DID THE DOCTOR WRITE HER ANTIBIOTICS TO GO HOME.? HE WROTE 5 PILLS 1 PILL FOR 5 DAYS,.I refused to sign any paperwork, because if something happens to my mother they will be held responsible !!!! SO I WARN ANYONE AND EVERYONE. IF YOU ARE REALLY SICK PLEASE STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS HOSP, AND DR. UZI, Ouzy, he DOES NOT CARE FOR HIS PATIENTS!!! THEIR WELL BEING AT ALL!!!! . I am DISGUSTED WITH THAT AWFUL PLACE. AND THE HOSP. DOCTOR...
Read moreMy mother was recently admitted to Tennova Lebanon, and her experience was utterly appalling. The staff ranged from unsatisfactory to criminally negligent. This was not just a couple of disgruntled employees; the widespread disregard of professional behavior indicates a culture of indifference throughout this facility.
Here are just a few examples of what my mother and/or I witnessed during her stay:
In the ER, after initial exam, we were completely ignored for TWO HOURS with no visits from anyone. No information, no "please be patient, we are waiting for a room to open up"...nothing. The ER was not busy; we would probably still be waiting there if I hadn't started pressing for some information.
When the respiratory tech finally came in after our long wait, she shook her head and mentioned that my mother's oxygen had not been turned on! She sat here the whole time with a cannula in her nose with no benefit whatsoever. When I mentioned that to a different respiratory tech a few days later, she laughed it off and said: "Yeah sometimes that happens. We get busy and forget". Incredible. It is their job not to forget "little" things like oxygen. Especially with a patient that is suffering from pneumonia. Double fail.
On one of my afternoon visits, my mother told me that she attempted to get assistance in going to bathroom TWICE. Both times the nurse call was answered with a "be right there", but no one ever showed up. She literally had to yell "HELP" until someone decided to show up and assist her. I have no words. This is elder abuse. I notified Nurse Leader Bridget Powers the minute I was told of this abuse.
Another afternoon I came to visit and found my mother's room vacant, bed made, no trace of her belongings. Since she was very ill, I naturally assumed the worst. In a panic, I tracked down a nurse who told me that she had been moved to the ICU. I was never notified in spite of the fact that my contact info was in her chart AND written on the whiteboard. This is an inexcusable failure on an epic scale. I don't care who's responsibility it is to notify family when a patient is moved, but SOMEONE needs to make sure it gets done. I would much rather get three different people calling me to tell me what is going on than to be completely in the dark. I made it clear at the time that this was completely unacceptable, but obviously my concerns fell on deaf ears since I was not notified when my mother was returned to a regular room; I had to go find her on my own when I found her ICU bed vacant.
One afternoon while walking my mother up and down the corridor to build her strength, we walked past the nurse station where several nurses were laughing and joking around. They were being very loud, and I couldn't believe how rude they were being to all of the patients who were trying to rest. As we approached the other side of the nurse station, we saw a man in a gown standing at his door trying to get their attention. They were obviously ignoring this poor patient's call button request. He got louder and louder until he could not be ignored any longer. Whatever he requested required one of the nurses to go to the other end of the corridor, and as she did so she loudly complained the entire way about how impatient some people can be. I have to believe that there is a special place in Hell for anyone that can be this sadistic.
Almost every person I came into contact with was surly, slovenly, inconsiderate, uncommunicative, and generally miserable and unprofessional (EXCEPT FOR NICOLE ON THE 2ND FLOOR AND LEAH IN THE ICU - THESE LADIES WERE WONDERFUL, CARING AND 100% PROFESSIONAL...KUDOS TO YOU BOTH!!!). Every workplace has its share of bottom feeders, but I have never in my life witnessed a group of people in one workplace so completely and universally unwilling to make the effort to perform their duties at an...
Read moreFirst off i will say the staff can b some what nice. The folks i had this time. But me and my son went to the e.r. this past monday morning at 3 45 am. My son had fell off my bed in the middle of the night and split his ear open on my bed side dresser .Now the gentamen that came in first was very very sensitive with him and compassionate and overall very very nice.. The younger women who accompanied him was rather useless. Very very new to the office i could tell. My 3 year old didnt want to get on the scale and i said im sorry he wont she said well its for medicine.. Thats all she said just like that . i said ok! We procced with me holding him to weigh him yada yada.. Now the doctor came in a women maybe her name was dr. Carter or dr. C something she was very sweet very nice and gental.. At first. Now she came in and warned me if he wasnt num. That she would have to inject him with some numbing agents and i was fine with that i new it would make the whole process alot easier for him and her. So she pricked him he screamed i cried. Lol and sbe did the first stitch. She went to do the back and he screamed bloody murder with a needle half way thro the bck of his ear, feeling every ounce of pain. I said to her he isnt numb lady. She said im so so sorry we will ha e to try again. I was completly heart broken for my poor son. She went in again with the numbing agent.. him screaming beggin me to have her stop pooking him at this point im a complete reck and can barely catch my breath. She went in to do another one and went thro with ease she had 2 more to do. She went to do another stitch and just as before he screamed even louder ballin saying stop mommy plzz stop her. I looked up at her and said he sint numb AGAIN!!!! *I TOLD HER do not even dare touching him again. Ur done. Now this doctor was not mean she was very apologetic but she has no knowledge as to how to take this matter. She didnt no what nerve to inject hell or were to inject to numb the complete ear or partial of the ear.it was as if she just was like "oh its cut here, so we will poke right here" It was a little hard for her to hold her hand steady with my son screaming . at one point she told me to stop because i gasped a deep breath after my son STOPPED screaming. I could have launched at her for that response!! But i do not recommend this e.r. for any one. Elderly , children , or ppl in great heath!! Therr staff is always brand new. There is barley anyone loyal to this place and everyone leaves with horrible experiences. Patients and staff alike!! New kids come there every year thinking they have the knowledge to practice this medicine. But honestly this hospital is more of a ginny pig lab for " us". Ill never ever go...
