We have ordered from here before with no issues and today is a different story. If I could give no stars I would! There was no steak in my omelette. I got a veggie omelette when I ordered the big steak. Ordered house sampler with no ham, no sausage, no grits, no biscuit and no gravy. We literally just got bacon and eggs. To say I dealt with racism and disrespect is an understatement. I literally stood at the register for them to just stand there to look at me without acknowledging me. Then when I am acknowledged the white customers that walked up after me were helped immediately. When I was finally cashed out the old lady just handed me my card, no thank you, have a good day, nothing. I said, “if I were white I’m sure I would’ve been treated better!” She follows me outside and asked did something happen, I said, “y’all literally looked right past me to help everyone else” she said, “if you are going to have an attitude I am not going to talk to you!” I said, “I am the customer!” She proceeds to walk away and says we don’t want you as a customer! Her response let’s me know that I was right! Instead apologizing for how I was treated she starts yelling at me. We will never eat from there again! The worst part is I still paid. I should’ve walked out instead of paying $35 for food that...
Read moreSmall town, family owned and run establishment. Worth the drive from Canada, if necessary. I asked the waitress what her favorite dish was. She asked, breakfast or lunch? Lunch. BLT STACKER!! She said it's just something about that sandwich I love. I tried it with the recommended chips. Maaaaannn, I tell you, I can't think of another sandwich I have enjoyed more than that one. The toast was perfect, the bacon was cooked to perfection, the tomatoes were sliced just the right thickness and the mayonnaise was just the right amount. My month's watering now just describing it for yall. They had lots of regulars in there. The service was top notch, friendly, fast and personable. She checked back on me several times and my glass never got close to empty. I saw what I think was the cook come out to hug one of the ladies that come in, the manager was cleaning tables, an elderly lady was rolling silverware and another guy just doing all kinds of stuff. I had to ask if it was family run because everyone seemed to care. It is and you can tell. I will be going back. BTW, breakfast is...
Read moreSouthern Crossroads in Lenoir, NC, is an absolutely excellent restaurant! They are located in a former Shoney’s restaurant building, and the atmosphere immediately takes you back to a happier time and place. Nobody does it as well as Betty and her staff. For many years, I enjoyed the Mountain House restaurant that Betty operated in Boone. Now that she is in Lenoir, I drive there quite often just to have her delicious breakfast plates and other delicious foods. It is well worth the drive and never disappointing. Not only is the food delicious, the staff is always welcoming and friendly. The overall experience is great, and I can say there is no place in Boone that can compare with it for breakfast or any other meal. I have told many people who don’t know about it, and they drive from Boone as well and tell me of their similar delightful experiences. Prices are very reasonable, and the portions definitely fill you up. I appreciate Betty and her hardworking staff for giving us a great place to go for a good...
