Where to begin? Moved from Newtown Crossing due to many issues with the apartment and area and decided to stay with American Campus communities. If possible I would cancel my lease right now and move. To start the year the gates around the complex, which was a main reason I moved here, were broke and wide open for about 2 months. This led to peoples cars being broke into and personally my bike SEAT stolen. The apartment when I arrived was low quality to put it lightly. Blinds broken, door broken, light bulbs missing, basic things such as towel racks and shower curtain racks broken, couch completely destroyed, etc etc. I filled out the sheet at the beginning and was told these issues would be fixed immediately. Not once was I contacted or visited by anyone to fix them or address them. Also, I visited the complex a few weeks before move in to see where I would be living. As I passed it seemed like the door was open but I just assumed it was being prepared. When I arrived for move in the door was STILL open. So the apartment was open to anyone for weeks and I also saw this on other apartments near mine. Also the "new" internet is absolutely horrible. If the router is in another room the signal immediately drops to almost non existent levels and the support tells us it is our problem not theirs. Now the real issues started. Our washer and dryer broke back to back after the other one was fixed. This led to clothes being left wet where my 3 roommates and I had to air dry anything that was in it. This led to the apartment smelling like mildew. The issue was fixed about a week later and everything seemed okay. About a week or two later the washer broke again. We were told it was just a sensor issue and that it would be fixed after the guy came back from lunch. He never arrived until we had to contact the office and the issue was fixed days later. The washer would get the clothes wet then sit. No spinning or anything. Washer was fixed just to immediately have the dryer break once again right after. This again led to the mildew smell which we had no control over. Again this time after contacting the assistant General manager, the issue was fixed about a week later. Now once again, the dryer is broke. We can not wash our clothes for the 3rd time in a span of 2 months with days/ weeks of time in between fixes. This complex and frankly the entire American Campus Community is an absolute scam. Nothing has been done to compensate us for these issues besides long wait times and empty apologies. Also I attempted to sign up for covered parking and give this company more money months ago. I contacted the office, spoke with an assistant and had my information taken down and was told I'd be contacted shortly. Have not heard anything since. Positives- amenities are fairly decent. Rooms are a decent size. Electricity bill is cheap. Spend your money elsewhere and stay away from this company. All of their complexes have many issues after talking with residents from all of them. It is not worth the hassle.
Going to add. Walls are EXTREMELY thin. You have 0 privacy and hear everything. Good luck sleeping or studying if you have an even semi loud neighbor...
Read moreAs a Student coming close to the end of the school year, I can’t wait to leave this complex. 524 has brought nothing but complexity and a very underwhelming stay. The rooms were destroyed when we first moved in, they don’t care about the safety of the renters, the maintenance crew never fixes anything, the upper management never communicates with the lower, and Mail gets sent to other mailboxes.
I think safety should be the #1 concern, but to 524 it is not. Around 2-3 month ago someone got shot right outside of my apartment! This is supposed to be a gated community but the gates are never closed! They have been “trying to fix the gates” for 8 whole months! After this shooting happened it took them a couple of days to report anything to their residents! I would’ve thought this shooting would’ve pushed fixing the gates to their #1 priority but no! The gates have still been open since!
Our AC unit broke down within the first couple weeks of moving in. This caused our unit to be so hot that some of my roommates stayed at our friends places. The worst about that was the AC service said they didn’t have to come fix it until the next day. This is because it wasn’t 80 degrees outside, it was 78. Our Microwave also broke with the first month of moving in. They didn’t get us a new microwave for over a month and a half! The first time we called, management said we should get one in the next two days. The second time we called it was with a week, then within two, then they weren’t completely sure. I think that’s just unbelievable! Your renters microwave went out keeping them from eating food, this fix should be high on the totem pole!
My mail has been placed in other peoples mailboxes many time, so if you rely on paying different services through the Mail then this is not the place for you to live! The package service at the front desk has been fine though. I’ve never had a lost or misplaced package from the front desk workers, they are nice and fast when I go to them.
After reading many other reviews from past residents, I am preparing myself to pay for the many damages that were left by other renters in the past. The unit had holes in the wall that were never patched and the holes that were patched are done extremely poorly. I would say just be ready to pay for other people’s damages when you come here. They never gave us any damage forms to fill out or anything. I even asked on move in day for damage forms and they had nothing to give me, seems sketchy to me. I have pictures of damages from when I moved in but I highly doubt that will help.
Finally the front desk staff is alright. They are students and do the best they can with the lack of information they are told. The main problems come from the maintenance crew and upper level management. I would not recommend living here to any students. It seems like more affordable living but the fees add up. You are paying for a horrible environment, unit, and management. GO LIVE...
Read moreThe WORST place to ever live. I moved in to a nasty apartment we had to clean the common area and our own bedrooms. There was gum stuck to my night stand and pee all of the toile from the last tenants. The first year I lived there (2023) there were car break ins every night! July 4th 2024 their security let people blow fireworks up in the parking lot all night (he eventually fell asleep) my window got busted out from a firework being put into a yeti cup! Me and my animals both were affected by this. My window had a temp window until October! I never got any compensation or anything for this. They kept the same security who then harassed me and my roommate while we took our trash out. The security guard refused to even tell us he who he was. He just rolled up on us in an unmarked car demanding we tell him where our apartment is! Then December 2024 (Christmas break) apartment robberies occurred. They did not care what so ever. A strange man was going into apartment windows. I was the first that I know of to report the break ins and then 10+ occurred after me and I know multiple of those occurred after I told Robin the property manager so what’s that tell you? They didn’t even tell their security company to actually work. once again not even an apology for lack of security. Also In December I alerted Robin of my roommate situation and told her how unsafe I was with my roommate bc she starved a dog for over a month and started making me truly uncomfortable! Jan 2025 guess what? I had to call the cops bc of a physical that my roommate initiated! I had full video proof! So we were both given a 14 day notice which I think they used that a reason to get me anyways bc I wanted out of my lease after the robbery and they didn’t want legal trouble. When I went to discuss this situation with I once again expressed my feelings with Robin about how I feel unsafe she repeatedly tells me “I’m sorry you feel that way but our residence safety is our number one priority”. Doesn’t really feel like it is and gaslighting your own residence into thinking that is even sadder! i Wasn’t even going to write this review until i was sent pictures and heard on the news of the new car robberies. By a current resident they sent what their car looks like currently they busted the whole back window, messed the trunk up, and busted the driver window out! Just awful. The worst first apartment experience. I have had a lot of friendships made at angliana and not one of them had a good experience there! DO NOT DO IT!! Go pay the extra to live somewhere else! Angliana painting your buildings doesn’t cover your lack of security and...
