J2C has always been good; we go there regularly and I always have a good experience. Today, we went, dined in and they had a new menu, or else I just noticed it. It's lunch specials or their version of giving you a good deal for some regular dishes. Anyway, I'd tried their General Tso a while back, as we've been going there since they opened, and I didn't remember it as being my fave. But somehow it came up today and the server let me in on a secret - they've changed it, and it's very different - larger hunks of real chicken, less breading/flour - so I tried it. So glad I did, it was really delicious. It came with egg roll and fried rice, both were also good. My son got his go-to - beef fried rice - he loves it and it fills him up. Anyway, the lunch special is a great deal, very filling and just 10 bucks. Oh, and they don't have diet Coke on tap (fountain) ;). but, they do have it in cans and give you ice. So, even tho it's not a Coke place, they please the customer. Speaking of customer service; it is always superior. The place is a very modern vibe, yet still cozy somehow. And the staff makes you feel welcome. Great atmosphere all around. I will now be back even more frequently. Give their new lunch menu a try! I'm glad I did.

If you are longing for an authentic Chinese dish, this is one of the best places to go to in Lexington! When I realized it’s a Hong Kong Style restaurant, the first thing I will look for is definitely “Beef Chow Fun.” Of course, not all so-called Hong Kong Style restaurants in the States have beef chow fun, but I was craving for that today. And…, I want to say their Chow Fun is the best I have ever had! The rice noodle has a good balance itself: not soggy, not too dry, not too wet, not too hard. And it’s covered with pieces of omelet, onions and green onions stir-fried with chow fun and soy sauce. The beef was even gently brined before and stir-fried to an excellent crispy texture from outside but chewy and juicy from inside. Last but not least, the oil they use seems fresh to me. Unlike other low, cheap quality house and garden Chinese food you can find elsewhere, I don’t feel any weird, oily, greasy taste in my mouth when I enjoyed my chow fun! I will try their “salt and pepper pork” next time, which is another prime dish you should try from an authentic Hong Kong-style Chinese restaurant!

We got fried dumplings, chicken lo mein, chicken in garlic sauce, dumpling soup, egg rolls and chongqing chicken. Both chicken dishes were ordered with fried rice. Portions were reasonable. Everything was fine, although nothing was exceptional. The Chongqing chicken boneless version was very different than the version pictured on the website, which was disappointing. We wouldn’t have even bothered ordering it if we knew it wasn’t prepared the same and wasn’t coated and crispy like the bone in version would be.

If you like well prepared Asian food with generous portions, served by smiling faces then you need to visit the new J2C Bistro in Lexington. I suspect there is new ownership as the menu has changed. Sadly some of my favorites are gone, the beef ho fun with scallions was one of my favs, BUT there’s new and interesting dishes that are equally yummy to take its place! I had the beef and eggplant and it was amazing. Their egg rolls spring rolls are hand rolled in house. My new fav Asian bistro!

Updated: maybe they were just having a bad day but my recent visit this week was not a ‘good thing. First, my Diet Coke was flat so I asked them to exchange but the server said their carbonation was out and they were serving drinks from cans. And, he argued that cans of soda have no carbonation so all canned drinks would be flat. I gave up the fight and settled for water. I ordered hot and sour soup. It was ok but served cool to slightly warm. Not very appetizing and I have to admit that I really miss the old J2C soups as they were the best homemade broths. I reordered the beef with eggplant and it tasted like it was a totally different dish from my initial visit.

I was so surprised at the differences between these two visits and wanted to make sure I did not mislead by my earlier review. I’m hoping that these issues are a temporary glitch and this restaurant can provide better consistency in...

J2C Asian Bistro certainly exceeded my expectations. As an American born Chinese, I wasn't expecting much but still decided to order take out from their lunch menu. To my surprise, the food was high quality with portion sizes that were more than satisfying.

My order included the beef Kung Pao, which was a delightful experience. The meat was cooked perfectly and combined well with the sauce, making it a dish I would highly recommend. In addition to this, the egg drop soup was full of flavor. Each spoonful was rich and fulfilling, making it another standout item on their menu.

It's worth mentioning that at the time of my visit they only offered curbside pick-up which took a little longer than expected as they were pretty busy.

Another note, if you're dining with people with allergies this may not be the place for you. Sadly, they aren't able to accommodate people with gluten allergies. I was surprised to learn their pad thai was not gluten free, and unfortunately they don't invest in gluten free soy sauce or oyster sauce. Creating allergen friendly items would be my one suggestion to the owners. Regardless, their food as it comes is delicious so this doesn't count against them.

I am definitely looking forward to trying more dishes from J2C Asian Bistro and would recommend it to anyone seeking authentic Asian cuisine in a...

I have never, and I mean never, had food this good before. The fried tofu holds its shape perfectly until it hits your tongue and... I have often used the phrase "melts in your mouth" to mean something very delicious. When I say the fried tofu melts in your mouth, I mean it literally dissolved across my tongue, spreading the sauce and ground pork inside my mouth.

And the noodles... My God, the noodles. I thought we might be in trouble, ordering something that looked like a kitchen sink dish. (You know the kind, where the chef throws everything in the kitchen into a dish except the kitchen sink.) Each flavor in the dish was distinct, and none of them over powered any other. Dr. Pepper may claim to have 23 flavors. The wizard that is this chef actually pulls it off in a dish that has blown me away to the degree that I am having to write this while sitting at the table. I can't make it to the car. You have to know about this food now.

The decor? You don't need to know about the decor. This food could be served to you on tinfoil with plastic spoons and you wouldn't care. Which makes the hardwood tables, the exposed stone walls, white paint, and modern lighting truly make this place the heaven of dining in Lexington. Your life is not complete until you...
