We really enjoyed the Lost Palm on the top floor of the Manchester. We didn't have any food, but the bartenders were great, the hostess was very kind, and the views were beautiful! So why three stars? We were told downstairs that we could sit at the bar, or talk to the hostess upstairs for seating. So we went up and ordered our drinks. The bartender was friendly and accommodating, and the drinks were delicious. We asked him if we could walk out to the terrace. He told us we could, but that any table marked as reserved was not available. The views were beautiful, and the atmosphere was energetic. We found a loveseat that didn't have a sign and sat down. A staff member came over after we had been there a few minutes with "reserved" signs and apologized, but told us we would have to move. That was no problem. We knew we didn't have reservations and if other people did, we would happily accommodate them. We went back inside and saw several seats next to the window. Not wanting to take seats that belonged to someone else, we went and talked to the hostess. She told us that her last reservation was for 9:30 (it was currently 8:00), but we could sit there until then. So we went and sat and enjoyed the views and our delicious drinks. That's when the reason for our 3-star review happened. The manager came at 8:15 and told us we needed to move to a less desirable table because those seats needed to be given to someone else. We were surprised, but moved because we didn't have reservations. We finished our drinks and when we left at 8:45, the photo I attached to this review is the seat we had been sitting in (at the far right) and the 4 seats to the left of them that had all been empty since we vacated. Apparently, we were not deemed worthy by the manager to occupy these seats simply because we didn't call ahead, even though they were empty the whole time we were there. Can I recommend the Lost Palm? Yes. Do I feel like we were not treated as valued patrons by the manager? Absolutely.
As reference for anyone in upper management, we were there on...

We made a reservation for dinner at the rooftop restaurant because we had heard about the attractive theme -- and because it was our wedding anniversary. Our parking choices consisted of a pay-lot across a busy rush-hour highway, or valet parking. We chose the latter, though we only stayed a short time. We can't comment on the food.
After leaving our car with the valet, we were greeted for dinner by a very casually under-dressed, inexperienced young woman. She awkwardly escorted us to an elevator that was out-of-order, but we eventually reached the nicely decorated rooftop bar and restaurant, though the volume of the music was simply intolerable. We were offered seating outdoors, but the volume of the recorded music was equally loud -- which we mentioned as inconvenient for (somewhat expensive) dining and conversation. No effort was made to accommodate us -- not even the slightest pretence of courtesy was extended.
We've enjoyed all kinds of eateries -- street food to fine dining -- in major cities throughout the world -- but in this case, both waitstaff and customers were sadly reduced to literally shouting at one another in order to be heard, and this wasn't how we intended to celebrate our anniversary. The employees were either completely disinterested in the situation, or perhaps helpless to change it -- so...
Read moreMy wife and I wanted to go up to the Lost Palm rooftop restaurant for drinks at about 8PM on Saturday, May 11th. We let the hostess know that we did not have reservations, and she politely let us know that all of the tables (the place was packed) were already reserved but we could visit the bar (which was also already filled) for a drink. I turned to inform my wife of the situation, and before I could turn back towards the hostess to let her know of our plans, a gentleman with a blue sportscoat walked up and informed us that they are clearing up our table (in the outside portion of the rooftop restaurant even) and it will be ready shortly. My wife and I looked at each other stunned. The table was ready a couple of minutes later and while were being led by the hostess to our table, we passed the gentleman in the blue sportscoat and I tipped him...generously. A very nice waitress took our drink order and returned quickly with our libations. I asked her who the gentleman was...the owner? She let us know his name was Matt, he was the manager, and he told her to treat us well. We have no idea if Matt thought we were someone else, or if this is how he treats all out-of-town visitors, but our evening was made extra special by the great views, drinks, and atmosphere. Please visit this establishment if you have the opportunity...you will not be...
