Beautiful park to visit. Direct parking is minimal, but if you pay for downtown garage parking, there is wheelchair and stroller access into park. There is a concession stand for live venues, but there is also areas for mobile kitchens to serve you. The concert area has green area to picnic at each level. The dog park has many gated areas and what looks like option for obstacle course. The children play area looks a blast with a super tall slide and splash pad. Lots of areas to have a picnic. There was also a little book nook full of children's books if you wanted to read to your young one, and some advanced reading if you choose. There are signs of sector numbers and address in the park to let emergency people know how to find you should the need arise. There is also direct, underpass access to Manchester Music Hall and other venues down that street, opposite the Rupp Arena. There is reasonable walking access to Town Branch Distillery which would make for a great hangout activity afterwards. It also looks like you can reserve areas for private parties. I was impressed by the wheelchair/stroller access and swing benches that people of all...
Read moreWhat a Great Park. Although Gatton park is a new addition to the Lexington area, I believe that it adds so much to the community. There is so much green space along with places to sit and enjoy the green space! The walking trail is great for people who want to walk or run. I especially like all of the events that are put on at the park. The park hosts work out classes, farmers markets, movie nights, and story times. Most of the events are compliantly free to attend which is something that I really appreciate. Having the events be free allows more of the public to attend and engage in the community. The one thing that does make me not want to visit is the parking situation. With Gatton being a new park to the Lexington area the parking situation has not been fully established yet. Right now there are two small areas for parking, but one of them is on top of a very steep hill which could pose an issue for people who have smaller cars. However the parking situation will not deter me from...
Read moreThe brand-new Gatton Park is absolutely gorgeous. It has lots of trees and lush gardens, along with large, open fields and a creek flowing through the entire park. There is a large kids playground, a water play area, walking and biking trails, a pavilion with public restrooms and food and drink bar, and a large performance stage, among many other things there. Whether you’re looking for a concert to attend, spend some time outdoors with friends and family, or wanting to take a quiet walk by yourself, Gatton Park provides it all. The only negative for some would be that the park is in downtown Lexington, so if you’re visiting during rush hour, you will be able to hear the traffic. However, I still believe that anyone and everyone should give this park a visit, whether you’re local or just passing through the area. I can definitely say that Gatton Park has grown to be one of...
