I had always gone with geek squads plans, because their plans are highly recommended through Best Buy mobile. We trusted them and have never had any issues throughout the years we’ve purchased through them (10+), which was great. The one time we have a major issue, and I only found out because my step daughters phone cracked and Apple made me aware it did not have Apple care on the account. I was completely confused and on the phone for 2+ hours. I found out, and tried to fix, that we were needing to provide a new card/payment. I called and Cory thoroughly helped me at Best Buy Mobile (Lincoln, NE), acting like no big issue to get this taken care of through Geeksquad ($24ish). But after calling and speaking to geeksquad, I was told geeksquad ONLY notifies you via email (that was not checked) and them telling me I needed to provide a new card, but it was now too late. Geeksquad representative, Fergy, and her manager, Cecilia, stated that it is my fault because I did not notify them within the 14 days, so her phones Apple Care expired, yet two other plans were being taken out of the same account, which is why it was never caught. It made no sense, nor did they care whatsoever that it was not on purpose, and did not care how I stated I’d be more than willing to pay it and provide the new card. We’ve paid for Apple Care, and multiple other plans for our phones, and have purchased through Best Buy many times, to be told the one time we have an issue that they’re “sorry they can not help but not sorry because it’s your fault”. Very unfortunate and very upsetting. Due to this customer service and no help regardless, I can easily say that I refuse to purchase anything now through Best Buy, period. Read moreThis place is freaking ridiculous. I go in to drop off a computer for my mom- but I can’t just do that- even tho she is a geek squad member. So after I waited 7 minutes they tell me I had to LEAVE the store and make an appointment to come back….. I couldn’t even fill something out and drop it off- REALLY???? So I try and make an appointment on line- 20 minutes later after trying different ways to set it up, I attempt to find a number so someone can give me an appointment. About 3 calls later and about a 10 min wait time, I had an appointment to drop it off. I go to the appointment, drop it off. A few days later it is done. I go on line again an attempt to make an appointment, because I can’t just pick it up. I make the appointment for 11:40 this morning and I kid you not I am still waiting at 11:50. Just for a visual, three people stud at the door doing nothing when. I waked in. This place sucks. It’s not worth the hassle- also any phone call I have made has taken over an hour before geek squad would help. Now it’s 11:52 and they are helping the guy with the 12 appointment. Read moreWhen we purchased a new iPhone 8 Plus for my wife from Best Buy I contacted Apple about changing the battery on her iPhone 7 Plus in order to pass the phone down to another family member ( due to the loss of peak efficiency of the battery). Apple informed me that The Geek Squad service at the Best Buy where we purchased her new phone was also the local Apple authorized service provider as well. When I took the phone to get the battery changed the Geek Squad technical support staff was absolutely fabulous to deal with. They explained everything they were about to do in simple plain language and how long it would take and what it would cost. Upon returning to pick up my phone I was told that during the procedure one of the battery hold down tabs had broken. They promptly replaced the entire device at no charge. Now that’s what I call SERVICE !! It’s understandable that from time to time these things happen but to receive such compensation on the spot tells me I was in the right place.
