Will never do business with COMPUTER HARDWARE INC on South 70th street again. I had liquid damage on my laptop and took it to them to look at and fix. First encounter - I told them what was the issue and they told me off the bat because of the model or Year of the laptop I had to pay the diagnostic fee up front. So I paid then waited for them to tell me the issue the next day. Second encounter, the next day, they called and told me that it would be $875+ to fix the damage through Apple. I asked where this number came and all I got was "our apple certified tech quoted this from our tier level of damage pricing". At this point I have to have a laptop, it's just not an option to be without one when I'm a college student so I agree to the price to have it fixed. I came in to sign off on this price to be financed and was told that was a quote before tax, which is something they already left out. I said okay fine I'll agree to the taxed price and asked if that was it, they said that would be it. Anyway today I received a voicemail stating that the tech made a mistake and looked at the wrong price for my laptop so the price was now quoted $400+ more than the original quote and I had to agree to the difference to get it fixed. I called apple to confirm if there was even a tier pricing system to fix their products and they said the store shouldn't have quoted me anything that didn't come directly from Apple. So I called the store and they told me what they thought would be the damage to the laptop and not what Apple quoted. I asked what exactly I was paying for and they couldn't give me further details as to what their tier level criterias were. In case anyone ever runs into this again, Apple specifically states that any store with a certified tech or is Apple certified, CANNOT quote customers anything that did not come directly from Apple. You know that “I got ripped off feeling”? I needed a screen repair on my MacBook Air. My screen is visibly damaged. I just wanted a new screen. I had to pay $80 to be told I need a new screen. I think paying $80 to have someone tell you that you need a new screen is a bit much.

When I first came in, I asked what the price range is for a new screen, I actually asked multiple times for a price range. First over the phone when I called, then when I made the drive and came into the store. Was told multiple times they cannot give me a price range.

So, I had to hand over $80 for diagnostic, in other words, hand over $80 for us to tell you that you need a new screen.

So after the diagnostic of my broken screen, I’m told changing the screen on my 4 year old Mac would cost $550.

If I was given a price range, knowing that a screen repair could cost up to $600, I would’ve skipped this whole ordeal. That’s not in my price range. My fault though, I should’ve just googled price ranges for screen repair because it’s easy to find online!

I understand charging $80 for an in-depth diagnostic, but why does someone need a diagnostic when their screen is physically damaged and they want to know how much a new screen would cost? They handed me a sheet with the “diagnosis” on it, which says, “multiple cracks on screen”. Yes I knew that. Why did I need to give you $80 to tell me there’s cracks on my screen. I understand, it’s all about your policies. But put yourself in the customer’s shoes.

I didn’t need any diagnostics done. Just needed a new screen and wanted to know how much that would cost. Wish I could get my $80 back...

These guys are hand down the best in town for Apple anything. I had a very complex problem with my iMac. I would start it up and it would flash a folder with a "!" on the front of it. I tried contacting Apple themselves to see if I could get assistance over the phone. After talking for an hour, the rep ended up failing my hard drive. Me being shocked that he might have actually messed up my computer even more, he got me what was called a "CS Code" (A code the apple generates and their partner stores will help you out completely free) Super convenient, I didn't have to drive anywhere to an Apple store (Closest one is in Omaha) They sent me here, to Computer Hardware, and honestly, wow! The service I received from RYAN was completely 5 star. Welcomed with a smile and a "What can WE do for you" Ryan was able to determine the actual problem that was going on with in seconds it seemed (Mind you I was on the phone with apple for an hour and 36 minutes) Ryan not only figured it out, took my computer, found my CS Code, and said it would be done in 3 days, FOR FREE (since I had a Apple CS CODE) The NEXT DAY, I received a call from Ryan, letting me know, that MY COMPUTER WAS ALREADY DONE. I hurried there, got it, went home, and BOOM, works like it was brand new. I would recommend these guys HANDS DOWN, WITHOUT A DOUBT. Ryan was my sales guy, and Alex was my technician.
