I wanted to write an honest review with my experience at Mychelle’s. From the beginning, Mychelle was very kind, flexible, and knowledgable. When I went in for my first fitting, I had expectations of a certain bustle and she explained that she could not do it because of the train on my dress, I was a little upset but understood and appreciated her explaining to me. When leaving Ava Laurenne (where I bought my dress) they told me all I would need was a bustle and a hem because it fit me like a glove. I took that with a grain of salt since they are not seamstresses. When coming to Mychelle she told me that I would need a hem, bustle, and to take in the boning on the sides. I was hesitant because I thought the sides fit perfectly and almost too tight as it was. However, I’m not a professional so I took her recommendation. When I went in for my second fitting (as shown in the second photo) the sides were brought in too tight (I did not gain any weight since the first and second picture, if anything I may have lost some pounds). It felt super uncomfortable and all she told me was I need to fix my posture (true lol but even with my bad posture you can tell that the first dress fit so much better). I’m non confrontational so I ended up just leaving but I couldn’t stop thinking about it so I emailed Mychelle and she was super flexible and offered to get me in, which I appreciated. She told me that what I was upset about was my hips and she did not touch my hips so she could take them out at an extra cost. Still confused at the drastic change in the appearance of the dress from the first and last fitting, I reluctantly accepted. I went to try the dress on following her taking out the hips and while it wasn’t like the dress before- it still looked better. Fast forward to my wedding day, I go to try my dress on and one side still had 3-4 pins in it. I took them out before putting my dress on it ended up looking the exact same as that second fitting (hip protruding out) but my other side fit better. Had I left the pins in, I’m not sure whether or not it would’ve looked like the last time I tried it on. Anyways, my wedding is over with so there is nothing that can be done at this point. I just to suggest to any future brides maybe shopping around and getting a few opinions. For the price that we paid for the alterations, I’m a little upset with how it ended up fitting on my...
Read moreI’ll be honest, I don’t like giving negative ratings but felt that I needed to share my experience with Mychelle’s. It was highly recommended by Ava Laurenne (which please know now, you DO NOT need to go here just because you bought a dress from them). I thought this was the easiest way, and one less thing for me for research. When I got there, everything was great and really nice, the layout and store is extremely clean. I tried on my dresses and told her what I wanted to get done (add straps, and make the bottom of the dress less tight)- she said she could do that. I opted to not shorten it because I felt like I could dance in heels and the length was fine. I also asked her to fix my ao dai (Vietnamese dress) to make it tighter around my waist. With everything, total came out to around $500. I came back for the second session, and tried on the dress. I went in so excited to try it, which is why I felt everything was okay. The straps made were beautiful, and the tightness of the dress seemed to be gone. Wrong. The only thing I asked to fix was the length of my dress, which just to cut a little bit, I got charged over $200. When I went back to pick up, a few days before the wedding, it wasn’t offered for me to try it on one last time because it was so backed up with customers. I tried it on at home and it was so nice but then the wedding day came. My Vietnamese dress was still big around my waist, not fitting me properly and making me look bigger than I was. My reception dress straps DID not fit me correctly as it kept falling off my shoulders and made my boobs look weird. The tightness of the dress that she said she would remove, was still there as it was difficult to sit down at times. Overall, everytime I went in, it felt rushed, which I didn’t feel comfortable speaking up or taking the time to explain what was wrong. I understand it’s a business but the prices were ridiculous, almost spending $1k altogether on alterations. I would NOT recommend this place and highly suggest you do your research! I made mistakes of my own during this experience but I’m really sad with how I felt on my big day because of my alterations. I wish I went with someone who took their time, and didn’t book customers back to back in 15...
Read moreI really loved working with Mychelle's. My experience there was one that I will always remember with positive feelings because they took care of everything and were so kind. I was really nervous because I had never been to an alteration shop before, nor had I ever been married, so taking my wedding dress there was a huge deal for me! A wedding dress is something that you have to put a lot of trust in someone else if you're going to leave it in their hands. I chose Mychelle's because they have a good reputation, and I actually met some of the people from that company at a wedding event not long before I booked them. After speaking with the receptionist on the phone and making my appointment, I was fully sold. Their customer service was just lovely. It really made me feel reassured. But of course their actual job of tailoring/altering was perfect. They were so patient, too, with me considering I did not have shoes to give them a reference for what the length of my dress should really be at the end of it all. I felt so bad, but I just did not have my shoes picked yet! They were super nice about it, they fully explained things to me before they did them. The place was very beautifully decorated as well! It was very clean and exciting to be in! The person who did the alterations was clearly very experienced and intelligent, she definitely knew exactly what she was doing. That meant everything to me. She also made me feel beautiful and comfortable. As a plus size woman, I was worried that I might encounter people that would make comments that would leave me feeling uncomfortable/judged, but that did not happen at all. She complimented me and even made suggestions that I agreed to that turned out amazingly. I could not have looked as glamorous as I did on my wedding day without Mychelle's. I really hope to have an opportunity to book their...
