Bob Evans 10830 Promenade Ln, Manassas, VA 20109 December 22, 2024 Memories of Bob Evans on a trip out to Ohio many years ago always remind me of good times. They are good, sit-down, hearty breakfasts to eat on the road and great establishments we don’t have in the East. On our trip from Massachusetts to Mississippi we left Philadelphia early and made it to Manassas, Virginia early. We had issues of getting our kids in gear and I couldn’t find the place to drive into the restaurant parking lot, so we parked near it and I went in. Nobody followed and when I came in the memories of Bob Evans of yesteryear came back. I was greeted at the door and the hostess asked if I had any children in my party. I have a 17 year old, 12 year old and an 8 year old plus my wife so I said, I have 3 kids. She immediately pulled out the crayons and I didn’t object. She showed me to the table and I started drooling over the menu. Today, on this trip we were going to just pack it in. This doesn’t usually happen. I’m a penny pincher but I wanted a big breakfast and I wanted it now. Finally the family started trickling in and I even went back out there to the car and told the kids to hurry themselves up so we could eat and get going. We weren’t stopping anywhere else. This was it. They came in one by one. The waitress now saw that I had joked about having 3 small kids and she quickly switched back to normal menus and took away the crayons. I started sipping my coffee and our server named Joshua came over. We were in Manassas, Virginia and Joshua didn’t have the twang we’d been hearing already on our trip down south. We explained that he had come down to Manassas for certain reasons which didn’t work out and he was originally from Maine, and he liked the area and now didn’t want to leave. Little too much info for the family but it was so far so good. He had some good suggestions of caves and other things around Manassas so he was great. He kept us all laughing and eating good food. I order the steak tips and home fries and eggs which was truly amazing. I ate all of it. My wife ordered the Red White and Blue combo which she wolfed down like there was no tomorrow. Those are included with a picture, on 3 pancakes the red is the strawberries, the blue is the blueberries and the white are slices of banana. Yum. I ate a bit of that too since my daughter ordered the same and couldn’t finish it. My son ordered the biscuits and gravy which lasted in a take out box till somewhere in Tennessee and then we had to let it go, gravy and all. Our youngest had the Double Blueberry Hot breakfast which he enjoyed immensely. He has an allergy issue and he didn’t have any issues after the breakfast. The coffee was great, hot and a good pick me up. We even ordered a really good slightly sweet iced coffee which was great. We had a few sides of sausage and bacon. Over all, the memories of Bob Evans remain wonderful memories, and the place was the classic breakfast on the road place. When will they come up to the Northeast?! Thank you Manassas Bob Evans. You made our trip great!

So, we hit up Bob Evans on Sudley Road for brunch this Saturday, right? We thought it was gonna be chill, but man, things didn't really go as planned. Looked like our server was fresh on the job, maybe even his first day, and things were rocky. We're cool with giving new folks a break - everyone's gotta start somewhere, right? But it felt like we were part of a training session rather than out for a meal. We asked for stuff like water without ice and cinna biscuits, but they never showed up. Got water with a lot of ice though. We ordered a caramel mocha and a cappuccino, but I guess they thought we both wanted cappuccino. And the coffee, my God; my hot chocolate is stronger than that. Then there was this mix-up about refills for coffe. Our server said they were free, but we got charged for them, and when we asked them to take them out (we didn't drink the coffee) server was looking at us being annoyed. What got us more, was when they brought our food and the check at the same time and just dropped it. Didn't even ask if we wanted anything else, and we did. The whole coffee confusion could have been solved if they checked on us at least once. Look, I'm not trying to be harsh. Just saying, our brunch experience wasn't the best. I guess this time it didn't click. Hopefully they sort out their issues, and of course YMMV.

Soooo......let's do Bob Evans! First glance the place seemed to be rather clean....then I sat down. Three tables next to be were not cleaned from the time I sat down for at least 15 minutes. That's something y'all have to stay on top of! Keeping the house clean means business will return. My waitress was very nice and polite and checked on me several times throughout my meal. I ordered the honey chicken and biscuits with green beans/ham and the corn. The food was clearly cooked fresh as I ate my veggies first (cause mamma raised me to eat my veggies) and then started on the chicken and it was hot the entire meal....both pieces! The flavor was on point...it was all well seasoned and nothing was over salted..... which I appreciate! I didn't get to see their restrooms so that's a star missing. Food=⭐, server=⭐, cleanliness=⭐, restroom=⭐ and price=⭐. That's my breakdown. really wish they'd give me half stars, but guess that's too much to as for As you can see, it's not a bad review, just keep the house clean and in a timely manner please! Good restaurant. Server=⭐ Food=⭐ Price=⭐

Very disappointed in our service tonight. They were under staffed and the young man that was our server was great but not trained properly. He was trying hard but was so overwhelmed and frustrated that he forgot everything. An hour into being there we still didn't even have silverware. I told the manager he was trying but he wasn't trained properly. The manager used the excuse that they were understaffed but it was not an excuse. So, after sending back my daughter's food because she simply wanted a fried egg- the server came back out with an egg cooked over easy for the 2nd time.. I tried to explain what a fried egg was but the server was just done and cursed as he stomped off. Its not his fault that the cook doesnt know what a fried egg over hard is. Now, the 2 tables next to me were expressing there aggravation as well. I went up to him and told him that just because he is frustrated doesn't give him the right to be rude to me. He was young, 18 to be exact as he told me while cursing me out in front of the entire restaurant as I gave him a piece of my mind as well. I hope this young man gets the proper couching he deserves because I believe he has been poorly trained and has a lot of potential. I know it's hard working in the food service industry but that's no excuse to be a jerk. I gave him plenty of chances and didn't get nasty with him about being forgetful as I could see he was trying and frustrated from the beginning. I hope that the manager takes this as a chance to help this young man. He doesn't deserve to lose his job or anything drastic like that. He did try but is in need of some good couching and needs to learn patience if he planes on staying in a customer service oriented field. The manager did not charge us for dinner- which was not my intentions. The food was great...
