Alisa Joy is a nonprofit that benefits victims of human trafficking (with the namesake inspired from two of the victims). The staff here are exclusively volunteers who have backgrounds in handling, assisting, and recommending wedding dresses. Many of the dresses here are donated from other boutiques and brides wanting to contribute, but the styles are selectively curated to make sure that inventory stays up to date with the times, so dresses are more classic and modern, rather than vintage or "hand-me-down".
Our party scheduled an appt from 6-8pm; this was our first time trying wedding dresses, so we weren't entirely sure what to expect, but Sharon and Paulette were so inviting and friendly that we felt welcome as soon as we stepped in!
First, we browsed some dresses to look for styles that we might be interested in, which we essentially bookmarked for them to bring to the dressing room (to make sure the dresses were properly handled, make sure none of the sequins would snag, and to prevent damage to any of the other dresses). As this was the first place, we weren't yet sure what size the bride might be, so after narrowing it down, we browsed through the size ranges that would allow us to reasonably manage for alterations, which was very easy as the dresses were organized by size. Sharon was so helpful with her tips and recommendations, and Paulette helped the bride quickly get into and out of dress after dress after dress. Before we knew it, we were 30min passed the expected end time, but Sharon and Paulette were so helpful and gracious that you'd never have known that we were overtime.
Overall, everything about this place was spectacular, from the dresses to the associates to the mission! it was a wonderful first experience, and a tough act to follow; I really can't...
Read moreThis place is such a GEM! If I could give it more than five stars, I definitely would! Sherri and her team are absolute angels. Paulette and Jen were the volunteers for my appointment and made the experience so seamless! All appointments are private so we had the whole boutique to ourselves which alleviated any pressure. I went to a few shops beforehand and this was the best experience out of them all. They were so kind and helpful and recommended dresses I didn't even think of trying on - which resulted in me walking away with the one! Come with an open mind! Also purchased a veil at a great cost. The prices are unbeatable and extra bonus points that the proceeds go towards such a great cause. I highly recommend checking out this boutique to any bride. They book up quickly (for good reason) so I recommend securing a spot a few months in advance. Thank you to everyone...
Read moreSherri and Paulette were amazing! They were able to accommodate around my busy work schedule and when we showed up earlier than expected they still welcomed us in. The boutique is lovely, and they were very patient in helping me find my size and style.
They are volunteer run, and their mission to upcycle dresses to raise funds for victims of domestic violence is incredible. They accept pre-loved dress donations but have high standards for the dresses they have at the boutique and those they donate to brides in need overseas. This allows quality dresses and a diverse selection at very affordable prices. There were plenty of options for my budget of less than $1000.
I would highly recommend Alisa Joy for future brides or to any past brides ready to share the excitement of finding THE dress at an affordable price while supporting a...
