💔 A Bittersweet Review of Locust Grove, GA Locust Grove, Georgia, presents a complex picture for both long-time residents and newcomers. It's a beautiful place, no doubt, with an expanding array of options for dining and shopping that cater to diverse tastes. From charming local eateries to big-name retail at places like the Tanger Outlets, the city has successfully married small-town charm with big-city amenities. You can find practically anything you need without having to commute far, a definite convenience for modern living. However, the relentless growth has been a double-edged sword. While the old-fashioned, small-town atmosphere is a cherished ideal, in reality, it's mostly confined to a tiny, preserved stretch of "Main Street." This small historic core is the last bastion of the vibe that once defined Locust Grove. The truth is, it is no longer a small town. The most significant and heartbreaking change has been the loss of the city's agricultural roots. The beloved peach orchards and numerous family farms are all but gone, replaced by development and infrastructure. Furthermore, this rapid expansion has brought with it a crippling negative: traffic is extremely terrible. What was once a peaceful rural route is now a maddening stretch of congestion, especially during peak hours. This struggle with traffic is a daily, frustrating reminder of the town's transformation into a busy Atlanta suburb. Locust Grove offers a convenient and vibrant place to live with great options for recreation and commerce, but residents must accept that the idyllic, agrarian past is a memory, and navigating the present comes with a heavy dose of bumper-to-bumper reality.

Read moreMy husband and I visited this charming town last year. We wanted to pay our respects to relatives of mine in the City Cemetery. We found the group we were looking for, but were struggling so see some particular ones as there was an overgrown, prickly Holly bush next to them. We finally gave up, and walked on over to the Govt. building next door to ask for help. We were greeted, most warmly and graciously, by none other than the Mayor himself, Mr.Price. He was not only very helpful with our many questions, but gave us info and background on the town and Henry County. As we walked past the Cemetery, to get back to our car, we were VERY impressed to see a crew making swift work of the bothersome Holly bush! Go Mayor Price, getting things done (great and small) for his city! Much appreciated. Thank you, R.&...
Read moreI moved to Locust Grove.Henry County in 2009, at that time it was rated as a fast growing county. I really enjoyed the rural experience. Now I find that it has turned into Truck city, with increased and heavy traffic. The trucks have caused traffic to be unbearable. Warehouse are numerous with more to come. Many are build and never occupied, while others building are left unoccupied after the business have relocated. . Now it seems that for some strange reason our officials are pushing for more warehouses while neglecting the great stress placed on the residents, businesses and the roadways. Are we to become one big commercial community? Is this growth ? When will it stop? Locust Grove decisions affect all of Henry County as well as our...
