The show was seriously amazing! I'm giving it 2 starts because the seating is very crammed and uncomfortable. It was so hot that it was unbearable at times. We also had an usher ask us if we were in the right spot during intermission. He told us that Mr. Ballam won't let people move. Ok?? I guess you can't take a break during intermission. Said usher proceeded to watch us like a hawk the rest of the time. I was enjoying myself despite the crammed hot seating until the usher came because he thought he knew what our intentions were. We have tickets to see Newsies as well and now I don't even want to return if this is going to be the experience. I pay $60 for tickets and then am made to feel like I shouldn't even be there. Don't get out of your original seat to go to the bathroom, take a break or move for anyone else stuck in your row because "Mr. Hawk/power hungry usher" will find you and interrogate you! And we were only 6 feet away from our original seat while we waited for our row to fill back in because we were on the end. Did you double and triple check us? Oh you bet! But that's not enough! Please stare at us for 5 more min to show your dominance and power. Please make it so bad that I couldn't even laugh at the funny parts of the second half of the show and now I don't...
Read moreFirst, we love the Ellen Eccles Theater. However, the last two comedians and the MC were not very good... They were very dirty and vulgar... You need to remember where you are at Cache Valley. This is "happy valley 2"! My wife and I love comedy shows Drybar, Wiseguys, and Ryan Hamilton, and 99.9% of the time, they were fairly clean. We never felt like walking out, like a few did at this last show at the Eccles. The MC kept saying that it was okay to be naughty, well no, it's not! Especially when it is not advertised that way! Most of us really didn't care for the show! The MC's timing was off, and he kept referring back to his notes, just like the first comedian, she did the same thing, this is unprofessional! Those clean comedians he kept putting down sell out all their shows for a reason... Because for a majority of us in the valley, we love to see clean comedyshows... I never had a bad thing to say about the Eccles Theater until now... My wife and I, as many many others, were very...
Read moreEllen Eccles is a beautiful theatre that has been refurbished as needed to keep the antique look. We love going here for plays. Since it is older there are some sections with less leg room. So keep that in mind when purchasing tickets and choosing seats. If you buy early enough you can get the front row of the less expensive seats in the balcony. The front row has an open railing that will allow for taller people. We usually sit here if possible to accommodate my husband who is 6'3". It also helps my kids so they have a clear view. We just took our kids age 6-14 to Newsies and they all loved it. Every play I have seen here has been very professional and engaging beginning to end. Be aware that there is an age limit of 5 years old and a policy of no babes in arms so as not to distract the performers or disturb...
