7 night stay in mid-June 2018.
Reasonably priced RV park with nice landscaping. The sites are clean and well maintained. Most of the sites are a hardpacked sand/dirt, there are a couple that are all concrete and a couple that are covered with artificial turf. There is a small bark park that is also covered in artificial turf. Community fire pit and several community tables and BBQs. The bathrooms/showers were clean, showers were hot. Showers are not coin operated. There is a small store with a few items you might need and a few that you might just want (like ice cream).
Sites are FHU, with a hedge between the neighboring sites and a picnic table. There are 4 sites that are nose in and do not have a hedge; this is nice if you are traveling with another RV and at least one is a motorhome. The motorhome can nose in, the other can back in. That way the entry doors face each other and there is a little courtyard between the RVs. These site do not have a hedge.
The sites are not especially large, but are definitely adequate. Folks with slides on both sides of their RV will find that the passenger side slides take up a fair amount of the free space at the site. You are allowed the RV and two additional vehicles at the site as long as the additional vehicles can completely fit on the site.
Easy walk to downtown LB (WTC, Federal Building, etc.) Easy walk to several restaurants, Catalina Express and the acquarium.
There is a bike/walk path along one side of the park (lagoon side). One of our camp chairs was stolen from our site that bordered the bike path; I suspect that somebody on the path climbed over the fence and took it.
I witnessed the on-site staff go out of their way to assist a traveling couple from another country that ended up at the park late at night, after hours. The park was full but they found room for them to park for the night. It would have been easy for the staff to just say they were full and turn them away. Kudos!
Sites are $60 weekday / $69 Fri/Sat, with a discount for a full week. Based on the location, the condition of the park, the condition of the site, the size of the site, the overall cleanliness of the park and the kindness of the staff, and the value, I give...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed here in Aug 2019. If our trip was specifically to hang out as a couple, we would have had a great stay, and likely this rating would have been 5 out of 5 stars for everything. Our goal was to have friends and family visit sporadically throughout the weekend, and we found out quickly that this is NOT the place for us if we intended to have visitors. Parking is a problem EVERYWHERE in Long Beach, and this place is no exception. The problem comes in when they block off visitor parking with cones, restrict it to one car, two hours per site PER DAY, despite the fact there are several empty spots. They won’t work with you at all. My family member got a two hour pass while waiting for a parking spot in the few metered spots out front to become available. One was available quickly, so he moved his car. We took the pass back in the office and asked for a different pass so another family member could utilize the two hour parking until another site opened up. That’s when we learned about the limit of one two hour pass per site per day. It’s really ridiculous. We had a visitor come visit for an hour when the office was closed. We tried to call to find out how to get them in, but it went to vm. We just had them park for an hour, and when we came out, a worker had already ticketed their car and said they were about to call a tow truck. Not a very welcome greeting!! The manager was the only one who helped at all. She recommended places to park, but nothing was a decent option. This place is all about the R&R, and I’m not referring to rest and relaxation. Read those rules and regulations!!! I suggested an addition to the R&R that might be helpful to people (instead of “don’t do this and don’t do that”) and they had no desire to even consider my suggestion. I have not experienced what they experience, but I just feel like there’s got to be a kinder way to handle things and talk to people. Bottom line, it was an overall frustrating trip with regard to dealing with the staff. We will find another place to stay so we can have visitors when we’re...
Read moreThis is a very tidy RV Park, hidden away next to Downtown Long Beach. It’s LA expensive (80.00 a night as of this writing), but nicely landscaped and the pool, Hottub, bathrooms, showers, and laundry were all very clean. We lucked out and we’re given what I considered the nicest spot in the camp, site 23. It has a nice tree, backs to lawn and a view of flowers, has a nice hedge along our patio area, and was very close to the pool, bathrooms, laundry etc. The whole compound is gated and security fenced all around. There is some street and city noises, but not next to a fwy, so not too bad. I had two complaints: when I spoke on the phone and asked about checkin I was told 2 pm, but was also told we could arrive at 1pm and if the site was ready, no problem. We arrived a little after 1, and my husband was reprimanded for arriving early (NOT a great welcome!). Secondly, this is about the most un-dog friendly rv park I have ever seen, with signs absolutely everywhere telling you to pick up poop (of course!), and every single lawn had a sign saying no dogs. For me, all these signs ruined any beauty of the nice landscaping, and just made it clear they don’t like dogs. Yes, there is a small dog park with artificial grass, no shade, and barely big enough for anything. On the far side of the laundry is a beautiful lawn area that seems completely wasted and unused, why not make that into a dog friendly park area? Or at least if you don’t want to advertise it, just take the no dogs sign down. I sit on the grass on a blanket and throw a little ball for my little dog every day. She is on a long training leash. I was sad not to be able to use any of the lawn here for that, and so was she! At such an expensive rate, I felt irritated. Many people have chosen to travel in RVs because they have dogs. This park doesn’t seem to understand this. Otherwise, a pretty and safe...
