My wife and I were staying in Long Beach for our anniversary and had really been looking forward to an evening at Bubba Gump!
To start, we ordered the "Patrón Top Shelf Margarita."
The night before, we’d had the best (and strongest) margaritas we’d ever had at a restaurant at Shoreline Village, and those were $12. This one was $13, so we thought, “Oh, boy, this should be even better!”
Our appetizer showed up, and still no drinks?
When they cleared the plates, we pointed out that we never got the margaritas.
Our server couldn’t be found, but one of the helpers said she’d look into it.
15 minutes later, seconds before our entrees appeared, she came back, apologized, and handed them over. They were tiny (about ⅓ the size of the great ones we’d had the night before). She said, “Sorry it took so long. At least you can keep the souvenir cups!”
One sip and we knew it wasn’t anywhere close to a good (or even passable) margarita. Seriously, tasted like someone had squirted some lime juice into a tiny glass of ice. There was absolutely no alcohol in it that we could detect. Frankly, it was horrible.
When our server finally reappeared, we pointed it out to her, and she said, let me check. I don’t think those plastic cups are free. I’ll have to charge you for them!
Are you kidding me?.... What appears to be the world’s worst (and most overpriced) margarita, and we can’t even keep the cheap plastic “souvenir” cups?
We just said, “Bring the check. We’re done here.”
When she left, we saw a little flyer on the table -- “Labor Day Weekend, keep the souvenir cup!”
Why was the server unaware?
Beyond the lousy bar service, the food was mediocre at best… Our appetizer, “Mama Blue's Shrimp Gumbo” was OK, but not stellar, though the portion was so small, we couldn’t be certain.
My wife’s “fish and chips” frankly looked like miniature fish sticks.
I went with the “Shrimper’s Heaven,” and while it was OK, again, it was tiny… Looked like someone had stocked up on frozen shrimp at Costco (but smaller), and while the sauces were decent, someone forgot to fill the ramekin for the coconut shrimp. There were literally about two eye-dropper drops of sauce in an otherwise normal ramakin, 9/10ths of which was left empty. It was maybe enough for one shrimp.
“Run, Forest,...
Read moreIf your craving shrimp or sea food this isn't it, it was my family an I first time going this past weekend we were seated in 5mins which was great but then when we were seated they forgot about us because no one came to greet us or ask us if we were ready for drinks for minimum 20mins when they finally came an asked we knew it would be a long time before they even came back so we all decided to order everything together at once. Giovanni finally came an greeted us an asked if we had been there before we haven't so he said u need to flip the sign so after that we stated we were ready for everything placed our orders for our party from drinks to water to appetizers an our meal for our party of 7. It wasn't till another 20mins till my drink came out an when I say MINE I MEAN ONLY MINE, the rest of the table didn't get a drink until another 10mins so we are at an hr in an then the food comes scattered in a 10mins spread. An only of that's where its stopped would have been great but not only did the service not get better but worse. We had informed them that we got a wrong order when they brought the food. So they took it back to bring correct order so now one person had nothing to eat for another 30mins when they decided to tells us they were very sorry an there food is almost out. We told them don't bother just put it in a box to go. 10mins later they bring the food out on a plate. So after told them we asked for it in a box they said I don't know im just brining this here. Then comes the bill with the incorrect item that came to the table 30$ charge at that we then asked why are we being charged for an item that we didn't order. They said a manger was going to come talk to us please give them a minute. We waited 10 still no one.
My overall experience here was horrible I wouldn't recommend this place to any one or ever go back. This place was a complete waste of time an money.
Even the table behind us wasn't seated until we got our drinks an they ate an paid before we could even get the bill back
Also the cups that come with the drinks the gift shop didn't want to give them to us even tho we paid for them already why offer cups when u don't want to give them when u pay for them. Very disappointed in...

That's just not worth it to me, especially after consistently being told that "a significant portion of my meal" was comped. That's not a favor to me. A significant portion of my meal was comped because a significant portion of meal was messed up. If you're going to keep bringing it up and throwing it in my face, let's talk about why you comped those things in the first place. To fix multiple mistakes your kitchen made. We paid for the food we were able to eat. We weren't done favors by being comped for what we couldn't eat. If you want another chance after that horrific ordeal, at the very least, you're going to stop trying to gaslight me.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Came to have dinner with my family. Ordered an appetizer that didn't get brought to the table until after the rest of the food showed up and we asked about it. My sister ordered ribeye (medium) and shrimp. First the steak came out beyond rare. We asked for it to be recooked. My daughter, husband, and I had all finished eating by the time the recooked steak came out. And it was cooked well done, leathery, and dry. The manager said that she would comp it. When the check came, they added the recooked steak and comped it, categorizing it as a "taste" issue instead of the truth, and they charged us for a souvenir cup which we never ordered or wanted. When we went to get that corrected, she told my sister that it was "almost a $100 comp because they recooked the steak" for her, like it was our fault the kitchen can't cook a medium steak. Trust that we won't be back to...
